Look, HH has been dragging this place down since he got here
Its slow lingering death rattle has just been hastened a bit by this karate kick to the oesophagus.

He's the albatross around our necks

I never thought of you as someone that would have read Coleridge

(, Tue 5 Mar 2013, 8:31, Reply)
Read it at school when I was 13 and before I was demoted from the scholars class

(, Tue 5 Mar 2013, 8:33, Reply)
I had to do S Level English and we read Moby Dick.
I'd forgotten about that until you mentioned the scholars' class.

Thanks Nakers!

An s level must be way below an a level

(, Tue 5 Mar 2013, 8:38, Reply)

Didn't AA have to go into hospital to have that dealt with?

(, Tue 5 Mar 2013, 8:43, Reply)
Moby Dick is very dull
But thematically extremely complex. A bit like Heart of Darkness, but with a whale instead of Mr Kurtz.

I'll probably just listen to Leviathon again instead

(, Tue 5 Mar 2013, 8:44, Reply)
Your methods are unsound.

Moby Dick is a reasonable book interspliced with Melville's fucking research notes.
When you discover it was published unedited it all makes sense. A decent editor would have chopped out his tedious research about types of whales etc which would have maintained the momentum instead of disrupting a reasonably-engaging yarn every thirty pages with some prick's fucking homework.

Ever read Heart of Darkness?
I think you'd like it. It's really short too.
(, Tue 5 Mar 2013, 8:48, Reply)
I've not actually

(, Tue 5 Mar 2013, 9:02, Reply)
Melville is also indirectly responsible for everyone's favourite bald vegan, Moby.
I think he owes us all an apology.

(, Tue 5 Mar 2013, 8:54, Reply)
Yeah, thanks for illustrating that for me, HH.

(, Tue 5 Mar 2013, 8:58, Reply)
I was just about to mention Moby but you beat me to it
