I wish I could speak Welsh :(

(, Tue 12 Mar 2013, 9:21, 2 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
I can't speak Welsh, but I can mostly understand it.
It's a bit like in Star Wars where Chewie growls at Han and Han responds in English and they both understand each other despite not speaking each others' languages and also being in a galaxy far far away and a long long time ago so how did they even get English over there, anyway?

Anyway, I'm not Chewie, you cheeky bastard. I'm Han.

yeah, well, everyone had to do welsh
but for some reason, the gcse was optional, i did it 'cause i thought i could pass it. i think it's mandatory now.
(, Tue 12 Mar 2013, 9:54, Reply)
How widely spoken is it these days?
I think it's great that it's still being taught.
(, Tue 12 Mar 2013, 10:01, Reply)
in west wales and north wales, almost everyone speaks welsh
the most populated areas like cardiff and swansea don't have many welsh speakers though. although, the posh bits tend to have a lot of welsh speakers, such as pontcanna in cardiff
