Morning guys and gals (and all the rest of you too)
In the 'Bugs & Feature Requests' bit, Chickenlady asked if we could have a new writing thread of our own, to put up bits of stories and stuff for feedback etc. Well, I think we now have it.
It came to me this morning, while I was putting on my trousers funnily enough, that we could have a weekly short story competition based on the current QOTW. How about something a little challenging like "Write a short story in exactly 500 words with the current QOTW as its title" - that is all. From there, the world is your oyster: historical, sci-fi, erotica, gritty realism, comic, epistolary, magic realism, etc. etc.
How about it? We could give it a shot today while we're waiting for the new QOTW.
Anyway, if I've got time, I'll give it a shot.
p.s. I think they should be done as individual posts - to give room for feedback and also allow clicking. I asked Rob to let us have a favourites each week, but not sure if it is the right thing to do. What do you lot think? I've a feeling that when things settle down a little, we could have some shit-hot posting on this thread.

I can't today
as I have to go to work in a bit and my best writing is probably bad porn which I don't want to be caught writing when I'm at work. But I think it's a great idea for next week.
Looking forward to reading everyone's stories as we've got some fabulous storymakers on here

Excellent idea!
Whether I churn something (new) out today is questionable...I have a tax return to do and an article to write...
So it's possible...

That's a good idea
I've got loads of various fragments and scenes in my head that I would have trouble stringing into a coherent plot so this would be ideal.
*edit* Morning folks!

Oh! Another thought
I can heartily recommend Mr Grimsdale's feedback...if any of you post something which you'd like some feedback on - he's your man.

Oooo yes!
I shall attempt to write a story at the weekend. I don't have time otherwise.

How typical is that??
I'm already 281 words into 'My biggest disappointment' (shaping up nicely!) and they've changed the damned topic! Still, I will persevere. Also, I don't think I have a good story for this week's question anyway. I think I'll stay here where it's nice and fluffeh!!

OK, I'm in...
...but can we expand it to other art forms? For example, I would love to have seen "My Biggest Disappointment" realised through the medium of interperative dance.

I'll have a go at this!
Will be great to get my creative juices going again!
Great idea, Mister Grimsdale!

Erm...
Isn't that what the QOTW itself is for?
EDIT: Actually, this does help keep fiction out of the QOTW itself so this is actually a good idea.
