My fags have gone up from £5.56 to £5.99, they had one £5.56 packet left, and I went to buy 4 packets.
The guy scanned all 4 at the £5.99 price and I'm like "WTF? is this?" and he's like "It's the budget" and I'm like "Ok, I'll just buy the one packet at £5.56 price" so he's like "alright" and I bought the packet.

I can't even find how much fags have gone up by in the budget, but I swear man, fuck this country. Run by fucking multi millionares telling us how we're on all this together, like they've got a fucking clue what it's like. Someone should drive a nuclear bomb carrying train straight through #10 downing street when everyone in goverment desision making is over for a party.

I can't even find how much they've gone up by on the news.

Those seem cheap what do you smoke?
and seriously with your health issue, why the hell do you smoke!

Chesterfields
Let's not make this national issue about me, I'm not that arrogent.

You'll grow a fleshy cravat in no time!

When I gave up they were £4.20 a packet.
When I started they were £2.50.

Can't say I think it's a bad thing that cigarettes are being priced beyond most peoples' means, if I'm honest. Long may it continue.

I prefer it when they tax stuff i don't buy

(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 16:53, Reply)
maybe they can start an oxygen tax just for you

I don't want to get all evangelical ex-smoker
but they are an awful, awful thing. Worst drug by far and about the only one (aside, arguably, from alcohol) that can kill people that don't use it.
(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 16:54, Reply)
fuck it, we need people to kill themselves, can't have everyone living to 100 too expensive innit

(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 16:56, Reply)
If your monolopised smack dealer started putting up prices, you'd be up in train-tracked arms about it.
If your monoploised smack dealer quits, then fair enough, but just putting up prices after prices 'cus they know it'll get paid is just bullshit.
(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 16:56, Reply)
Sure, the people already on smack are fucked, but then they'll sell their own grandmother for their habit anyway so fuck 'em
if you make it too expensive for kids to take up the habit though, it's a win. Even if it is only an accidental by-product of being a greedy taxing wanker.
(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 16:58, Reply)
It's a shitty way of going about it.
If it's a health issue than my wallet should be irrelivent.
(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 17:00, Reply)
Yeah it's like the anti booze thing they're trying to work out at the moment
Like they think people drink cos it's cheap and that's the only reason
Not y'know, cos it takes their minds off their shithole of a life for a few hours, no, couldn't be that.
(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 17:01, Reply)
Oh', don't forget the goverment substidised bars in parlement.
WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER

It's seductive, smoking. Even without all the advertisements of my childhood
and with all the laws making smoking as inconvenient as possible. People keep taking it up. So put the prices up so high that teenagers can't afford to get into it before they start thinking of it as unattractive and you might stop more of them from starting in the first place.
(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 17:04, Reply)
Then they should make lighters for 25 year olds and up

(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 17:07, Reply)
Cigarette smoking is being forced out as an option.
More and more laws will come in to restrict where you can smoke and the prices will continue to go up. More people are quitting. Eventually cigarette smoking will be banned outright whenever the voice of dissent gets quiet enough.

You, my friend, are part of a dying breed. Figuratively and, after a few more years, quite possibly literally.
(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 17:10, Reply)
Yup, although there's always the "But we basicly fund the NHS" push on those final flatline bleeps

(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 17:23, Reply)
Cor I'm glad I've not got a smoking problem
Now help me open my 50 quid whisky
(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 16:52, Reply)
Plus, if the plan to sell all cigarettes in plain packaging goes ahead, you won't know what you're buying - could be Chesterfields or sawdust.
Which I'm pretty sure doesn't sit well with the Sale of Goods Act, or the General Product Safety Regulations.
(, Thu 28 Mar 2013, 18:40, Reply)
I wish I'd never started smoking. I need a plan to stop. Don't reckon 'cold turkey' will work.
