Our flat (2 bedroomed, good room sizes) would probably cost double in the south to what it would cost here. Probably more so depending on the area.

It isn't the 1970s anymore, I thought money and jobs (outside London) were more equal.

Round my way it's not uncommon for flats and small houses to go for well under £100,000.
Where I used to work in Bradford they could go for as little as £50,000. That said, it was right by the ring road and sandwiched in between two rough estates.

The first place I bought back in 1991 cost me £27k; same flat would now be worth about £120k. And it was in a really nice town.
