Don't get me wrong 'Reign In Blood' is fucking awesome. It simultaneously perfected and made obsolete the whole genre of thrash metal. It's just that, on average, when you take their entire career into account they're only a bit better than Anthrax and considerably better than Megadeth.

you see, the whole camp 'scary' thing Is simultaneously the best and the shittest thing about the genre. When bands take it seriously it's hilarious, when they realise the ridiculousness of it and deliberately camp it up like Sunn O))) do, it's wonderful. Lack of self-awareness runs deep in the genre.
