I just booked tickets for my wife and eldest son to go and see Tenacious D
..which puts her one gig ahead of me for the year. Who would you recommend for me to go and see this year? (and no I've never heard of DYAAKY but I'm pretty sure I was 'into' them before you)

Alt: Who have you seen/are going to see this year?

Altalt: What's with all the pears?

A psychiatrist.
You just willingly paid your own money to see that fat cunt Jack Black. Seek help, I beg you.

Well, I paid my own money for my wife and son to see that fat cunt Jack Black
I'm not sure if that improves the situation or not.

Why do you hate your wife and eldest son so much?

(, Tue 21 May 2013, 8:44, Reply)
Their taste in music and football teams mostly

(, Tue 21 May 2013, 8:45, Reply)
Fair enough, 'Bill Clay'.
I think I might hate them a bit, too.

I saw a superb band on Sunday, called Evening Hymns.
On Thursday I saw Alasdair Roberts.
Both come highly recommended.

Alt: I'm going to see Jeffrey Lewis & Peter Stampfel next week and Charlie Parr a few days later.

Altalt: I like a nice juicy pear.

Liege and Lief is a fucking superb album.

(, Tue 21 May 2013, 8:52, Reply)
I disagree
I've tried to like it, but I can't.
(, Tue 21 May 2013, 8:53, Reply)
It's the only one of theirs I've heard.
I saw some recent live stuff on telly and it was abysmal.
(, Tue 21 May 2013, 8:55, Reply)
You might like their eponymous debut.
Different singer and a reasonable attempt to make an English version of bands like Jefferson Airplane, etc.

YURT FACT: My old guitar teacher from school is an occasional member of the current line-up.

Their 'Marcus Garvey' (along with its dub counterpart 'Garvery's Ghost') is one of the best reggae LPs ever.

I think perhaps only 'Best Dressed Chicken in Town' by Dr Alimantado is better
