Anyone used to cooking on a halogen hob?
My new flat has halogen and I'm used to gas. Can I used my cast iron griddle on halogen ok?

You should be able to, but cooking steak with an electric hob is difficult.

Halogen's OK but, if you want to cook steak, get a small gas burner.
I did. There's just not enough heat in a halogen.

Good idea.

What i like to do is roll m y steak around a nob of garlic butter, season generously
then jam it up your mum's cunt while i press her up against an industrial washing machine on spin until she gets so fucking hot it broils.

serve with french fries, watercress and a mature Beaujolais.

Yeah.
We have a halogen, and use our cast iron pans with no problems. The only thing I've found is that if the base warps even slightly and loses contact with the hob, it takes a lot longer to heat up, or heats unevenly.

Depending on how long you're planning on staying in the flat, would it really be worth investing in a separate gas burner?

Ta B3th. I am leasing for a year, but given how much I like to cook I will get a single burner. Seen a couple online for less than £50 so worth doing.

Vaguely scientific answer - not to be taken as correct
Halogen is not dissimilar to natural gas in terms of calorific value so should be the same settings.

Forgive me if your flat explodes.

Halogen burners?
