Yeah.
We have a halogen, and use our cast iron pans with no problems. The only thing I've found is that if the base warps even slightly and loses contact with the hob, it takes a lot longer to heat up, or heats unevenly.

Depending on how long you're planning on staying in the flat, would it really be worth investing in a separate gas burner?

Ta B3th. I am leasing for a year, but given how much I like to cook I will get a single burner. Seen a couple online for less than £50 so worth doing.
