I couldn't give 2 shits about the royal family, but would probably miss them if they weren't around
They should be self-financing, somehow. Maybe Her Madge could sign a shirt sponsorship deal or something?

Princess Margaret could have been sponsored by some gin distiller or a bookie or something like that.

I cannot abide Prince Charles. Straight onto Wills I reckon.

I'm choosing to read your last line
as suggesting that Charles sexually abuses his eldest son.

SCORE.

Well who would abuse a ginger FFS? Haven't they suffered enough?

To me the difference between the Queen and politicians
is that the Queen's first duty is to the country, whereas a politician's first duty is always to themselves, or at a push their party.
Not sure the same could be said for Charles, though.

I appreciate your point, which does have some merit.
However I suspect that most members of the royal family are even more detached from reality than politicians - and that's some achievement.

Allegedly at one point Charles even had a servant to put toothpaste on his toothbrush for him

I suspect so
Probably the "attendant to the privy chamber" or some such.

Historically
there was a Groom of the Stool who would wipe the kingly bottom... It was a highly prized position as it showed you had the kings trust

Although the government gives them money
The Crown Estate - properties and such - pay their profits into the treasury. If they paid tax but took back the Crown lands we'd actually be worse off.
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 10:47, Reply)
Show your working please
In addition, if we took all their land and lopped off their fucking heads, I reckon THEY'D be worse off. AMIRITE?
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 10:54, Reply)
shan't
as I'm probably wrong. Crown lands are managed by an independent organisation and profits paid into the Treasury, but since they're effectively a public body I expect they're shit at it.
