The Crown Estate - properties and such - pay their profits into the treasury. If they paid tax but took back the Crown lands we'd actually be worse off.

as I'm probably wrong. Crown lands are managed by an independent organisation and profits paid into the Treasury, but since they're effectively a public body I expect they're shit at it.
