For that money if you want it reliable it's more than likely going to be German
Sorry if this means you have to put your hands above your head before the central locking will work for you, but...

Something like a 5-series BMW diesel, with M-sport pack preferably. 8k gets a 55 plate, 10k a 58 maybe.
