evening miss blouse!
how art thou and thy beer?
Yes, am still at work. Although it hardly seems worth it for an audience of 18. But I did get to drink booze and eat cake earlier.
edit: re harem work - do you think we'll have to wear veils and have loads of baths?

It was yonks ago when I read it and I want to read it again. I may purchase it soon. I'm also looking forward to the new Hellboy film. I just love these kind of films and don't understand why a women of my age hasn't progressed to Bridget Jones stuff yet. I love taking my nephew to all the new X-men films. Hell, I even love the Ninja Turtles film we saw *laughs*
@BK - I think when it comes to adaptations of comic strips etc, you can never be as good as the actual source but hell, they're fun to watch anyway.

He just washes with soap, and doesn't really use aftershave, but I bought him a soap from Lush and now he smells of honey.
This doesn't help with the lusting after him, but oh well...

Dating friends
I've dated someone who used to be a friend, but then there was a certain degree of mutual attraction from day one.
I have also dated women who've ended up becoming close friends, so I guess I must be odd in that respect?

is hugely important in a relationship, but a relationship ending can ruin a friendship. And not all friendships have the spark you need for a good relationship. IMO at least.

Mr Storm was a friend of mine for a couple of years...
Before we got together.
But that was kind of my fault. I thought his flirting was just to bolster my self confidence. Cause I blatantly thought he was just too good for the likes of me. People like me don't get boys like that.
Obviously he was being polite...

This whole "try not to be friends with the person you're in love with" thing does mess up my head, but thankfully, I don't let this get to me and continue to be the nice cuddly person I am.

Just been reading through today's thread. So does that mean I get to have my own harem as well then? In which case I'd like a harem of girls and boys as I can appreciate the beauty in both genders...not just being greedy honest ,)

I see your point...
A girl I was seeing a couple of years back just didn't work out... But we quickly realised it was mutual and although seeing each other as a couple was a no-no, we enjoyed each others company in more platonic fashion.
Anyway, she's become a very valued friend. I've even introduced her to b3ta and she's put a couple of posts on QOTW.
Edit: mistaspakkaman - I'm off to Aston Hills in Bucks. It's fairly small but well worth a punt.

I've had a very similar experience
to yours PJM. Being best mates with your partner can be tough if things go pear shaped in the relationship, but I think you need to have that depth of friendship to maintain a partnership. It's a toughie!

The funny thing is that we both went out one night with the intention of giving the "I'm sorry, but can we be just mates" speech.
When it happened, we both fell about laughing and proceeded to get pissed to celebrate!

Hi beckx
@TOS
But you were good enough for him in the end.
As well as you thinking you weren't good enough for him, he may have been shy - hence him not asking you directly. This combination may have been the cause of the delay.
@beckx
We could just merge all our harems into a single mega-harem.

Where if a woman asks me "put it in three words and I'll do it for you" I'm liable to reply with "paint my flat".

I did the go out with your mates thing
when I was a teenager and it screwed up a lot of friendships as it was only after the fact that someone else in our group would announce that they liked someone. Thereby making the new couple feel uncomfortable and forcing others in the group to take sides for comforting and slating accordingly. This would happen at least once every three months or so.
Now I'd still rather date someone I knew as a friend first, but not be THAT comfortable with them as then I think I'd only think of them as a friend and not sexually.
Edit: I do like the sound of Megaharem. sounds like a new transformer to me as well :)

got up this morning after no sleep, too warm, bit hung over and sad to be leaving all my lovely new friends to be greeted by the fact we were 5 down, Colly had been dropped and some guy I'd never heard of would be bowling.
Only the lovely doughnuts my friends had bought for me and a nd the very large coffee could cheer me up.
I now have beer in hand, bubbly in the fridge and a friend arriving in 2 hours all the way from australia!
EDIT: spaks, Am sad to be leaving. I've missed my UK pals (and have been jealous of the bash action I've missed, :) but really don't want to go. But I was only ever staying for a year and sadly that means I have to go back to my old job, which i dont like much and sharing a flat in London. I;ve had an amazing year. it's helped being paid in pounds as well...

This weekend?
I've not much got interesting stuff going on. I've got a gig tomorrow evening, I'll be watching the Hockenheim GP on Sunday (and the qualifying on Saturday) and probably having a look at my car to see how much of it I can fix myself.

I've not
been following much of the F1 this season, I dip in and out. Have been following the golf, mainly because it's in my home town. my mum is very over excited at the number of celebrities she might get to see wandering round Waitrose. Will make a change from the Rooneys and the Gerrards, all of whom mum sees at the checkout from time to time.
I mean, George Clooney and Will Smith. Now that's celebrity action... :)

I must admit
I've little interest in golf, despite living fairly near St Andrews and working not far from Carnoustie. Maybe that's why!
But I do like my motor racing. I've been all over the world to F1 races. This season is good inasmuch as there's no runaway winner. So far we've had four different championship leaders, as a result of the racing being more competitive.

I went to Spa
as a teenager. Watched a lot of touring car stuff at Oulten Park and stuff at Croft. Dad was a racing driver before I came along, so I grew up on a steady diet of F1, rally and endurance racing. And building kit cars. I was connecting brake cables on Lotus 7s while most girls my age were out drinking thunderbirds and getting pregnant...

Spa-Francorchamps
Is the best circuit in the world. I've watched an F1 race there, and also driven round part of it by accident.
Well, by accident, because my mate and I got lost driving up through Germany once, and once we got to Belgium (which we knew about because the road went from being a perfect blacktop to a potholed track) we soon chanced upon red and white kerbs...
I knew then where I was - Malmedy! Drove right down past Eau Rouge, to the Bus Stop. The wrong way, unfortunately.
I didn't know you were interested in motorsport, Rakky. Better watch out - you've just taken a big step towards becoming my perfect woman!

like i said, growing up in my house, there was no football, no cricket, just cars. or anything with an engine, boats, planes, but mainly cars. my dad was a car nut, we had a new car every couple of weeks as dad would buy a wreck, do it up and sell it for a nice profit. we had vans, volvos, a porsche, triumph spitfire, an MGBGT...
dad was racing in the james hunt era, he actually raced him a couple of times. and mum once made graham hill a bacon sarnie at a campsite in Menton where my parents were staying when dad was racing in Monaco. We've got tons of memorabillia, all beautiffully displayed and I've got some brilliant black and white photos of my dad and his mini cooper. a guy was writing a history of racing in the late 60's / early 70s, came round to photograph some of the stuff.

That sounds great - wish I'd been surrounded by that as a youngster. I'm a fairly recent (around 10 years) convert to motor racing.

I've watched F1
since 1980, on television, and went to my first race in 1991.
That is extremely cool Rakky, that your dad raced against Hunt the Shunt.
*gets car key, and makes plans to drive to Rakky's mum's house to see memorabilia*
*realises it's quarter to one in the morning and it's at least six hours drive away*
*realises he's been drinking*
*realises he doesn't actually know where to go*
*goes back to bed*

BK: aye, it was, in retrospect, brilliant. My dad passed away when I was 16, me and mum were talking the other day about what a daddy's girl I was as a kid. When he gave up racing, he bought a truck and ran a small haulage firm. When I was about 9 or 10, I used to go with him on a saturday morning in the truck to Fleetwood docks and watch as he met the container ships coming in. then we'd go for a trucker's breakfast at a transport cafe at the dock. then we'd drive back listening to Queen, or Status Quo and sing all the way home.
Not your average family outing, but pretty damn fab all the same.
EDIT: K2, dad used to race for Red Rose racing. one of his team mates was none other than crispy faced austrian Nikki Lauda. though he was less crispy at the time. obviously he had a slightly more successful career!

bakers, though. everyone needs bread...
my dad's racing was the reason my parents didn't have me till they were well in their 30s. they started dating at 13. married at 21, had me over 10 years later. in my mum's words, "we were having too much fun..." which i think is brilliant. they used to pick holidays by sticking a pin in a map of europe, then just fuck off to wherever it landed. Hence Yugoslavia in 1967. I remid my mother of her irresponsible attitude whenever she has a wobbly fit about me doing anything..

my old man is of farming stock.
He's also an incredibly boringly slow driver!
Damn. I've not been to a GP for a couple of years, and now all this talk of it is giving me withdrawal symptoms!

dad taught me how to drive
when i was 13. My driving instructor used to tell me off for taking the racing line on country roads. I was almost pleased my dad wasn't around to see me fail my driving test twice...
Mum drives like Lewis Hamilton on Red Bull. She gets really jittery when I drive. I have to remind her that she has 9 points on her license and has had for years as every time 3 expire, she manages to rack up another speeding ticket. I've never had so much as a parking fine.

I sometimes drive to work
on back roads instead of the A roads I usually take, especially if there are roadworks on the main road. Thing is, you can tell the people who do it often. They fly along the straights, and hug the corners, whereas the people who occasionally drive the back roads go too slowly, and drive up the middle of the bloody road.
This gets on my tits no end!
(I passed my test first time, for the record, and the only 3 points I've ever had for speeding have now expired)
Edit @BK. The difference between watching an F1 race on the telly and actually being there is the same as the difference between watching a pr0n film and having a night of passionate sex.
Without the damp patch.

by my mum;s own admission, they had fuck all money as they spent all of it on cars and holidays. I'm amazed sometimes! they both came from proper crappy backgrounds, I think they were just happy to be out of there and got a bit over excited. wouldnt have swapped it for anything! total idiots, the pair of them, but enormous fun.
we went to Paris for a family holiday - they managed to lose the keys the the suitcases that had all the money and passports locked in them. they had to rely on their 14 year old GCSE french speaking daughter to bail them out. Again, I've been reminding my mother of that for years...

My folks are doing the holidays and stuff now in their early 50s, now they're a bit more comfortable and myself and my brother aren't under their feet. I think they're the happiest they've ever been.

that's nice. My mum retires in a month. she never remarried, so is pretty much free to do whatever she wants.
which in her case is playing cards. the woman is like some kind of savant when it comes to card games. i swear if we went to vegas, we'd clean up. i will not play poker against her, i did it once... she now plays canasta (in a league) and is taking up bridge. she also plays blackjack for fun. it's not about the cash, she plays for pennies, it's this bizarre competitve streak. she can do that thing where you can she can remember what's been dealt and what's still in the pack. WHich is odd as she can again, by her own admission, barely work the microwave, yet she can play Bolivia with more than two full decks and still tell you what's left to be dealt... Odd woman. :)
