209
would be my number. But then again, I did do a four year film degree, so I'm not a total geek... ,)

I thiiiiiiink and hope that my BT phone may now run for longer than 6 hours uncharged as I've spent an hour downloading god knows what software onto it and onto my computer from microsoft and BT. All the installations say it's good, so keeping everything crossed as it's a pain in the arse having to keep it switched off during the day and then charging it all night.

How have your days been?

Edit: DiT, I won, but you win for premiere :)

Evening Becky
I'm in the middle of doing my books to send to my accountant. At the moment, it appears I have made rather more money this past tax year. This is good, but I'm now trying to find allowances and expenses to bring it down (legally, of course!)

Otherwise I'm going to be hit for an unpleasantly large tax bill in January.

And 209 films out of the top 250? I could say with some certainty that I've not seen 209 films in my entire life.

I'm having one of those days.
It's seriously being a spread brown eye kinda day. I'm not a happy Loon. I can feel the blood pressure jumping hard.

Fortunately in an hour and a half it will be time for beer.

So far
I'm writing off a load in motor expenses and for my new computer, and another few hundred for clothing, telephone, repairs & maintenance and so on. But I'd like another chunk taken off. I can't really claim for stationery, unfortunately. I probably bought a £3 ream of paper...

Get a simple phone. Much less hassle.

Your Day>>>My Day
The highlight of my day was going 'Oooh' to a poster from virgin media about broadband. It was more a 'ooh' actually.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 21:32, Reply)
And now
I can't find the sodding invoice for my computer!

Aaarrgghhh!

If you have money to spare and it will make you happy, go and make purchase.

Right
this computer and phone will not best me. I named it beast for a very good reason, but I will win.

I actually have another very nice phone but it's been disconnected as I couldn't afford the bill when I became unemployed, so am using this instead as it's £3 a month. At some point I'll probably get it reconnected and sell it, but right now this mostly works and does what I want it to to. Plus it works on wireless which is rather awesome :) Just need the sodding battery to last longer than 6 hours at a time.

MM, you are made of win my sweet :)

I have now managed to generate some sort of invoice
but I'll need to e-mail Apple tomorrow. However, the rest of my allowances are adding up nicely.

Anyone care to give me an invoice for oral relief?

Unless you deal in cash only...

Evening all
I have caved in big time of the ciggies and I'm now filled with self-loathing and nicotine, which I have to say, is taking the edge off nicely!
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:04, Reply)
Don't feel bad BK
I am also full of nicotine, procured from a newsagent in Tufnell park who was only too pleased to let me fill my lungs with the glorious stuff one week after quitting.

Probably accounts for why I no longer have a sore throat, but can no longer breathe properly and am being more than slightly irritated with technology
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:07, Reply)

Not just me then!

Still having phone trouble then?

Oh dear
it seems we have a shortage of willpower in b3taland today! : )
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:13, Reply)
In keeping with the 'technology sucks' theme,
I do believe Facebook chat was designed by the twin designers of despair from last week's Zero Punctuation, Terry and Gonad. It always refuses to send messages when it's important, and usually when I'm trying to sort something out with Mr Maladicta about flats.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:13, Reply)
Sure is
I really suck! I have no willpower at all!

@Maladicta

I don't use that malarky. If I wanted to message instantly I would use IM, but I don't cos I'd like to keep some level of privacy.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:14, Reply)
Mal
I just tried to log into facebook and it wont let me, so I'm guessing its down.

Yup, stil trying to sort it out. Now it wont recognise it on the computer sync thing. Despite the fact that I've held the phone up to the laptop screen and screamed "It's right fucking here, plugged into you you cunt". Wasn't having a bar of it. *le sigh*
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:18, Reply)
Technology
is great, when it does something useful, but when it's a gadget for the sake of being a gadget, it's a waste of time.

It's also incredibly frustrating when it refuses to work properly!

Hmm - 10:25....I think I'll be off to bed soon.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:25, Reply)
It's true.
But for whatever reason, Mr Maladicta wouldn't come on MSN (usually because he can't be arsed if he's going to bed soon because he'll get swamped) so we had to use Facebook chat. I had lots of stuff to ask him about flat hunting and it fell over :(
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:27, Reply)
For me
it's useful when I go to my parents place and don't want to lug my laptop around as I can use it to connect to the net and surf as normal instead of using a regular phone with gprs or whatever it's called.

It's just a pain as the battery wont last. Hopefully it will now. If not I'm calling BT tomorrow and demanding a new one.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:28, Reply)
@Maladicta
Why not phone him?

Or use Skype chat if you need silence.

OK, bedtime for me. Night all.

@ k2k6
I would, but I know he's probably asleep by now; he gets up at 6 to be at work for 8 and he knows what time I'm viewing flats tomorrow so he'll probably call me when he gets the chance. I don't want to wake him if he needs to sleep :)
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:33, Reply)
@ al
If his penis fell over I'd be kind of worried... nah, we weren't engaging in sexy tiem, I was just asking him stuff about room sizes and so on. The only real criteria I have to go on from him is "spacious".

Hello all
I'm feeling very pleased with myself as I managed to motivate myself to get out on my bike. I'm also pretty tired now though!
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:42, Reply)
A mixture
But I guess technically it was all road stuff, just some was on cycle tracks. Not into mountain biking!
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 22:50, Reply)
Indeed :)
Shame my first computer 10 years ago didn't agree. A pair of pliers and a screwdriver soon sorted it out though.

Yays, I've just filled in my application for college next year. Just need to go to a meeting tomorrow morning to get it checked over, then it can sit in a pile of paperwork until my practice becomes a registered training practice to send it off :)

How was your day lovely A?

Ooops, gotta go again.
Grats Becky, 'lo Ancrenne and yay for chips, see you all tomorrow.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:03, Reply)
Not yet
But it means things are moving ahead slowly. Got to have the practice approved as a training practice in order to register with the RCVS and then with the college I'll be studying at. So long as they both say yes, then it's all go. Might take a few months as they tend to drag their feet on this kinda thing.

When you have to wait for other people to do things. It just doesn't seem to go well generally.

Evening ancrenne.

All *should*
indeed. Keeping everything crossed until then though.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:12, Reply)
I can't remember if I mentioned it
Well, flight delayed by 30 minutes on way down, and 45 minutes on way back up. On way up it was due to a kid having a fit of some kind just as we were about to take off, so had to taxi back to terminal and wait for ambulance.

The ceilidh went ok, but the people were rubbish at following instructions. Weather was amazing though. And met some brilliant people. Mental, but brilliant.

Good weekend with K?
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:19, Reply)
PoD
what actually is a ceilidh? I know I could google it, but would rather hear from someone who actually participates in one.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:20, Reply)
Hmm, how to explain...
Ok, so there are dances. Popular ones are the likes of the gay gordons, the dashing white sergeant, the virginia reel, the military two step, and the strip the willow, as well as many others.

There is music. Some is reasonably paced, some is fast, very little of it is slow. Some is in normal timing, some is in jig timing, which is a bit funky and great fun to play.

Dances generally involve dancing with one other person, or a certain group of other people. There's dancing, walking, turning, spinning, and setting*.

People are quite often rather sweaty by the end, and it be a good form of exercise.

Any questions?

*setting is a kind of jump and kick thing which I make up whenever I do it.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:24, Reply)
Ahhhh, so it's like riverdance
kinda?
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:26, Reply)
Kind of like riverdance
But not really. I suggest searching youtube.

Yes, there is a caller. Either myself or the guitarist usually do it.

And also, ignore the music on youtube, as it is ok, but our stuff I would more classify as 'rock ceilidh'.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:29, Reply)
Can't say I have, no
But I have had to warn people not to throw anyone into anyone else in the past.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:33, Reply)
Ooooh, a ceilidh!
I LOVE ceilidhs! One of my most favouritest things ever. We should have a QOTW ceilidh, it'd be ace.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:34, Reply)
I agree
There should be a QOTW cedilah. If nothing else to help demystify it to such Southerners as myself :)
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:36, Reply)
I'm trying to find any decent recordings of my band
Either music or video, but am failing badly. Very badly.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:37, Reply)
We definitely should.
It would make for a legendary bash. And we have a good mix of blokes and lassies here, which helps.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:39, Reply)
Ooh you could make one just for us
at the next Cedilah you play

This next song is for my good friends at b3ta QOTW...dare ya ,)
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:39, Reply)
Am doing one down near London this weekend at a wedding
Will try and get someone to make a recording that is actually decent quality. As I either have ones where you can only hear guitar and fiddle and sound crap from one of the first ones we did. Or ones recorded at a flat with guitar, bass and fiddle, and sound crap.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:42, Reply)
As fun as it may be
I may just go for trying to get it recorded first, and mess about in the future. Scottish people would be less likely to care.

English people scare me slightly.
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:47, Reply)
Mwa hahahaha
be afraid...and all that jazz

Well I'd love to hear it PoD, serious or otherwise :)
(, Mon 21 Jul 2008, 23:56, Reply)
Will try and get some that includes drums
And get it recorded possibly. We were meant to be getting together to record stuff at some point, but summer got in the way and we never quite got round to it.

Has everyone else gone to bed?
(, Tue 22 Jul 2008, 0:00, Reply)
I'm still here.
Just out the shower, waiting for my hair to dry a bit more before I go to bed. Kinda bored....
