Evening all
A cosy place to spend the evening can be found here. There may even be beanbags.

Ok, no beanbags. I'm sorry.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 18:17, 183 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
That's a rather strange and intriguing post
I want to know what happens to you. And have fun.

Hello
Just sticking my head round the door. I've got stuff to do, but I may be around later.

Al - your surprise is perhaps that the train has been cancelled and you're taking a bus instead. I hope it's not that though.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 18:26, Reply)
I have things to be doing too
Hence I will most likely be on here avoiding them.

Hello miss Clendrix
How are you this fine evening?

Tell me tales of last nights bash please?
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 18:32, Reply)
I was really sad
you weren't there, al! I'd been looking forward to meeting you.
Wookie, Spakka, Madam M and Wanderlust were all there. It was a fairly well behaved evening - just sat around talking and drinking and laughing. I loved meeting WL and MM! They're both lovely!

A good way to know who exists:
The Kaol tested kiss method. "If you can kiss them, they exist".

Somehow, this should seem more wrong that it seems to.

Good days you two?

Also, PoD, ancrenne certainly exists, by that logic.
Although I like to keep on checking.

Hi POD and Kaol
I can't wait to see if Kaol exists or not. *wink*

Hi ancrenne. I am soooo happy because I can put my trip to London on my business c/card, which means I can afford to get a new ipod nano 8gb as my old ipod is soooo old and knackered.

That is why BGB is a happy camper.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 19:36, Reply)
My day wasn't that varied.
And wasn't that fun either. I worked from half seven until four, didn't get a call saying my bike was ready, came home and burnt my mouth on pizza.

And still haven't started that proposal. It's just not been a very productive day, all in all.

And I am very very very very excited. *glees*

Danish traditional dress?
I think I have seen danish traditional dress before, and been relatively amused by it. But then again, they probably laugh at me too.

Nice tartan. I went for a green and blue tartan though, as I prefer it to the red.

for I have eaten and am my desire for tasty foodstuffs has been sated. I also have a box of cigarettes to cheer myself up for the fact that I cannot drink for a week - christ I sound like an alcoholic - and they are horrid and foul, so it looks like this quitting lark might actually work.

DiT, I'm liking the Tartan. Forgot to ask you, when you saw Batman, did you see the six anime films first? I'm curious as to whether they'll put them on as part of the film and make it a true bum numbing experience or release them on dvd instead.

Evenin' all
This new Batman film - I saw an advert for it tonight, and it said 'In cinemas, July 24th'. Today is the 23rd, according to the best chronological indicators I possess.

Soooo...

...how come you lot have all seem to have seen it already? I wondered when someone (DiT?) said they'd been to the premiere the other night, but that someone else (Becky?) had seen it the previous night.

Surely there can't be that many advance screenings?
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 21:16, Reply)
Ah, I see.
Unfortunately, I'm referring to a TV programme, though an elite force of B3tans is quite a funny idea!

@K2k6 - I went to the Premiere, but there are also staff screenings at the cinemas which some of the other guys have been to. It's easy to see films early if you know the right people!

*already going to the next Harry Potter premiere*

Oh, I see
So it's a case of who you know, then.

Just wondered. I'm not a film watcher, as I've said often enough this week.

How is everyone this evening?

How art thou?

Annoyingly, my local cinema isn't getting batman until a week on friday for some unknown reason, which makes me very sad and annoyed. I'm considering driving down to see it elsewhere tomorrow.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 21:22, Reply)
Tick, VG!
How the hell are you?

EDIT: What bike you getting, PoD?

I may have to disappear for now, have a great evening all! :)
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 21:23, Reply)
Ahh I see
We put the anime on at mine because I'd downloaded it but had no CDs, so stuck it on a memory stick, my mate then burnt it onto dvd and we played it in the cinema. Was awesome :)

K2k6 mine was a staff screening as it was a Leicester Sq cinema and they always get the films first. I worked there a year ago and stayed in touch with some of the other minions so get to go to screenings sometimes.

Edit: PoD, god yes. At my last job I had to go to A&E after a bastardcat mauled my leg and it got infected and again after a nasty dog bite. Thankfully not permanently scarring. Also in that place if it was quiet you had to clean, despite it being a weekly job to clean things anyway. You'd literally clean things all day if no animals came in. At least at my new job there is an evening cleaner, so we clear up obvious messes, cages and do a weekly cleaning system, but we don't have to mop the floor every three hours and do other stupid jobs because they have nothing for you to do as there's always something to do there.

Not to say that where I work now is unclean - it's not in the slightest, but it's a lot smaller than where I used to work and there's less dogs which tend to make more mess.

MM, yes and no. If they're smart and recognise that a pet will bite then they'll tell the owner to muzzle it immediately. They can refuse to see the animal if they consider it to be a danger to their staff or themselves.

Having said that a vet friend of mine was bitten when the dog was unconscious and he took the top of her thumb off. Not good for a new grad who's excellent at surgery, but it turned out ok.

That's ok then
You know that in order to maintain that passport you have to follow the vacc dates to the letter as they'll revoke it in a second and make you blood test again and do the 6 month wait again. Not because they're fuckers, but because they have to. *Had to explain this to a veeeery irate lady about to go on holiday who missed her last set of vaccinations, so am a bit nuts on it at the moment*

I wasn't entirely sure, so had to google...
Over 27,000 cases of rabies are reported in animals every year, and in 1993 over 31,000 cases were reported in humans. It has been estimated that as many as 25,000 human deaths due to rabies may occur annually in India alone. Dogs are the main vector for human rabies.

Australasia and other countries which have enforced strict quarantine restrictions on animal movements. Within Europe these restrictions on movement are being gradually removed. Dogs which originate from licensed premises in Europe and which have been vaccinated with rabies vaccine, and identified by a microchip implant, are now being allowed to pass into the UK without the need for a period in quarantine.

In most countries Rabies is a notifiable disease and suspect animals must be kept in isolation and barrier nursed.

From www.provet.co.uk/health/diseases/rabies.htm

Edit: good job MM, we're trying to teach a guy at puppy school that it's not cool to tease his bug and then complain when he bites him. Twat.

basically if you train them so that if you put your hand in their mouth, they won't bite down on you. You inhibit the bite reflex. She jut shakes her head from side to side with her mouth open to try and get you off her.

I know. It's not something I like seeing. He comperes a comedy night and keeps stripping off and gives that as his reason for doing so.

PUT IT AWAY!

How's trix?

EDIT: Devil, are you sure you just haven't got your own penis out and have booze vision?
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 22:35, Reply)
Don't get me wrong, MM
I've nothing against nudity in general. In fact I rather like going around in the buff. But walking around one's flat exposing one's bollocks to one's female flatmates is a bit off! At least your breakfast isn't spoiled :)

I think I'll be off to bed. I've had a busy and boring night sorting out the remaining details for my tax return.

Night all.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 22:37, Reply)
Hehehe
Nope! It's a programme called 'Penis Envy'.

It is good wine because it is free.

Tricks are well, MM! Yourself?

Sounds good, PoD. Is it mountain or road?

EDIT: Ancrenne: Nah, it's Virgin 1.

I agree. One of the first things he said when he moved into this house (owned by boyfriend) was "well, I guess you're on my list of people I can't fuck now"

EDIT: All good DiT. I have cold beer and b3ta.

DiT Don't do it! Your brain will melt out of your nose.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 22:51, Reply)
It kind of is.
I don't get a lot of it, Noel Fielding just can't act and it's just not my type of thing.

But I do like the Moon.

Meh, I think I'll go back to Blackadder.

EDIT: Night, ancrenne! May you have luvverly dreams!

I may toddle off in a bit too. Nighty night all! :) x

Wookie?
Oh wait, Wookie's on the 2-4-1 beers tonight, so he's either in the pub or in the gutter.

*realises has made self look odd*

*excuses this with beer*

Why do you assume that I could be one of only two genders? I may be transgender, *rushes to toilet to check*.. nope you're right. I have a gender!

But can you guess which?

Things are OK, my grandfather died on monday so been a bit preoccupied with that.

not going to ask if you were close as that question always sounds so trite and shit. Are you ok?

Thank you
It was probably for the best to be honest... he was 92 and had been in a lot of pain for a few years.

I'm doing ok.

I feel I should answer Madame Marlborough's question... I am...

*wait for it*

a boy with a winkie.

Woo.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 23:17, Reply)
Hooray for winkies
At 92, at least he had a good shot at it though. It's a lot easier if you know they've had a good life.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 23:19, Reply)
Hurray for winkies indeed.
But a bigger hurray for grandads - I had two lovely ones.
Sorry you're going through this, Zap.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 23:21, Reply)
MM
Winkies are good. Although they can also cause problems.

Yeah he did have a good run, if I make it to that age it'll be a miracle.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 23:21, Reply)
I often wish I had a winkie
they look like so much fun to own.

It might seem callous, but my other half's mum has been quadraplegic and unable to speak for 8 years after a brain hemorrhage. Sometimes death is a good thing.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 23:24, Reply)
Agrees
I lost all my grandparents by the time I was 16 and feel like I missed out a bit on the whole wisdom through age thing that some of my parents have, but glad I missed most of the old age pains and stuff that goes with it.

Edit: After seeing the relief lifted through euthanasia of animals of owners we often have discussions on why it's not legal for humans.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 23:27, Reply)

Winkies are fun... although they can cause embarrassment too. Such as when they decide to stand up on the bus or in class etc. They have a mind of their own sometimes. But then I prefer jubblies. They are so much more fun than winkies.

Yeah he spent the last 2 years talking mostly in welsh and getting dates confused. Plus he had a lot of other health problems.

My gran though... 91 and she still kicks arse. The woman can drink more gin than I can.

sorry loves, I must offski. Have a good night all, and hugs to Zap x

EDIT: Maybe we can swap one day zap. Although mine are rather small and it may not be a fair exchange.

My nan (the only one I remember) had alzheimers and dementia by the time she left so couldn't recognise her daughter half the time. Bearing in mind she lived with us for about 2 years it was kinda upsetting for my mum.

*hugs*
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 23:32, Reply)
Yeah
I know what you mean. He lived with us for a year and a half and kept on thinking I was his dad...

Euthanasia should be legal. Its crazy that dogs can be relieved from pain but humans can't.
(, Wed 23 Jul 2008, 23:33, Reply)
I better head too
Bed has been calling for the last few hours. I feel I should listen to it as I have to work tomorrow and HOPEFULLY PICK UP MY BIKE!!!

How you're ok Zap. Hope all have a fun night.
