i used to think that
as it's easier to light a fire/get another blanket etc.

but our shitty horrible student house in green lanes had no heating for a few weeks in jan, and my god it's awful. you get really tired and achey, right down to your bones, and don't want to move from the one warm spot you've carved out for yourself under fifteen blankets!
