After sorting the power steering on my car it turned out it needed a full brake rebuild to get an MOT.
aaaand I had to pay garage prices as the tax had run out and I had nowhere off the road to store it. I got a sticker on it saying the council were going to crush it and everything.

This got the sticker on the 1st day of the month the tax was out.
I am amazed given the council usually take the same amount of time to do anything they're measured in the same timescales as geological events.

councils are incredibly efficient when it comes to collecting money
when it comes to spending it, or carrying out services, however...

But it took years of not paying council tax at this address for them to do anything about it.

It turns out you're supposed to fill in forms if you're not eligible to pay, not just not pay it. Oops.
