Sucky Job
Anyone else ever started a job they just aren't happy with? What did you do?

I'm currently tearing my hair out at a new place. Can't put my finger on the exact problem, but I think it is a combination of unprofessionalism, lack of standards, lack of structure, and other stuff. Then again, I think is it just me?

Am I being silly this early in, or should I just get the f out?

Stick with it
for a month, make sure you're settled into the role and people know what you're about and vice versa.

Started a job
Decided it was a load of bollocks (selling shite to stupid people, on commission). After the interview I stopped off into the nearest pub and asked if they had any vacencies - they did, score!

Spent all summer working there and generally having a laugh. :)

The managers and owners, as per usual, were a bunch of absolute cunts though. As were the bouncers.

Oh sweet Christ yes.
When working in Milton Keynes I got my notice of redundancy from my much loved firm and a week later got head hunted to another firm who promised us the moon on a stick. Once I got there I realised that the resources weren't there, the buying power was shite and the boss was an ubertwat of epic proportions.

Fortunately I had a lads holiday in Spain booked which the new firm had to honour. Sat around the pool with the boys I recounted my reservations and lack of happiness with the new position and my mate Chris spake "Fuck 'em. Get back, tell the dick head to poke his poxy job and move up North with us".

I realised that whilst I was within the 3 month trial period I could legitimately jack it in so I waited for the last paycheck to clear, tendered my resignation and gleefully left them in the shit. Dick head was told to poke the job, moved up North - Never been happier.

How far are you in to it and what level are you at? If you're in management then I'd see it as the opportunity to change it and stamp it with your brand .... If you're lower down the food chain then tolerate it until you can find a better job and use them for what you can.

Well.....
When I first started my current job it was a bit of a nightmare. But I made sure I kept true to myself, worked hard regardless of the twats around me, and tried not to get upset at other people being spineless and purposely offensive cunts.

Yes it was hard but over the months it's been getting easier. I've thought of quitting before so one thing not to do when starting a new job is to wander around telling all and sundry you've got this great new job coming up and generally boast a little bit too much.

Might mite you in the ass and when you want to quit it makes you look sad :(

It was my first day at my new job today!
And by comparison I guess it went pretty well. The IT system is a bit mad (Lotus Notes?) and the rules on expenses (in that there are some) are a bit more severe than the old place but hey on balance, a gentle start.

My Vauxhall Vectra hire car (whilst my company car is on order) is dreadful though.

I got the fuck out
Too many years of doing jobs I disliked as I couldn't see them being a worthy use of my time. Not meaning to sound arrogant, but the jobs I did were not using my best capabilities so it was fucking scary at first going into a totally new environment with a career change and taking a significant pay drop, but I'm happier than I've ever been.

you are frustrated because of a lack of training and help take it to your line manager.

If they blank you take it to the line manager above.

If you just get frustrated and don't understand the job or whats expected of you, you need to give it a couple of months depending on what your doing, can't expect to walk into a new career / position and be able to ace it straight off.

If the job is just shit and stressing you out either stop moaning about it and work out a way of dealing with it or leave. There is nothing worse for team morale than for one person in the office to constantly whine about how much they hate it, but have been doing the job for years because they are fucking useless and would never be able to get close to what is being earnt anywhere else.

not that im talking from any experience of being in shiot jobs / working with whiny cnuts at all, oh no
