I blame Boris for the deaths of the cyclists who weren't looking where they were going with earphones in.

it's very sad
but fucking hell, my cab was queuing to get up from Blackfriars to ludgate circus this morning. you've got 2 lanes of traffic each way, clogged with cars and massive lorries and buses. and 3 cyclists all at the same time, one weaving up the outside, one schneidering up the inside, and one moron working his way between the cars in the middle. it's fucking idiotic and it's dangerous for the drivers. and the pedestrians who were trying to cross at the lights but the cyclists shot straight over that too. they should ban them in areas like that for their own fucking good.

Yeah - laws against cyclists doing things have a great history of being really effective.

It's just lucky that other road-users are so law-abiding and careful.

i genuinely think central london is too dangerous
the roads are too narrow as it is, there are too many heavy vehicles, and just too many people in a hurry. much as I hate them personally, it's not such a problem in zone 2 outwards.

Indeed.
I wouldn't cycle if I didn't think I could handle it.

the problem is
cyclists - you might be great, but lots of them ARE cunts. if it were banned in the really busy bits/major roads, this would help a bit.

drivers - lots of drivers are fuckwits. if they make one mistake, their car gets dinged up a bit. but you're strawberry jam.

lots all

It's difficult to see a cyclist at the best of times, in a car. Big blind spot and a narrow profile.
It's made tens times worse when they're wearing dark clothing, weaving around and taking risks. It's made a thousand times worse if you're driving an HGV.

I've said it before, they should relay the roads to give cyclists their own lane with a raised kerb on the traffic side.
