was because my dad was in the army, and moving schools every two years would have really fucked with my education.
There are lots of reasons people send their kids to boarding school, and they don't all involve hating them.
When I first went to uni, I was amazed how many mummy's boys and girls had never spent a night away from home before. The couldn't manage their own laundry, or make even the most rudimentary meal for themselves. That's worse parenting, right there.

But when I went to uni I could do my laundry and I could cook and I had spent many nights away from home before.
You're surely not suggesting that the two choices available to a parent are a) be shit or b) send your child to boarding school? Of course you're not. That would be ludicrous.
