There are two possible end points, dependent on the Royal Canadian Air Force. If it ends where the initial plan for it to end is it'll be the northernmost permanently inhabited settlement on earth (CFS Alert, from where I'll get a lift on their weekly resupply flight down to Trenton, Ontario and thence flight home from Toronto) - if not, it'll be Ward Hunt Island and I'll charter an aircraft to come pick me up and fly me south from there.
Pic of CFS Alert

And time taken should be about 4-5 weeks.

Just thinking this up, planning it, training for it and attempting it is impressive.
It's a high aim in terms of funds raised, but a lower aim wouldn't do justice to a trip of this nature. And surely you know lots of rich people? :)

The evidence is as follows:
My sole desire on a Sunday is to clean the car. (OK, it's had 2 weeks of muddy/sandy boots to deal with, and been parked under a tree inhabited by something which to judge by the evidence is the size of a vulture and has very poor bowel control)
I've been surfing for bunkbeds for the spawn instead of weird t'internet stuff. Comparing bloody furniture rather than latex bound donkey gwar grot. Sheesh.
Junior bought me my first pair of slippers for Inseminator's Day. Homer Simpson slippers. When not at work, I have worn boots or flipflops for his entire life, and he gets me Homer Bloody Simpson slippers.
I've hung a picture up under the steely glare of the Obergruppenfuhrer. A picture that I had been studiously avoiding hanging up as it has flowers on it. Where did my poster of The Scream go?
I'll be cooking up a nice shoulder of baa-lamb later for a 'family' Sunday roast type thingy. I should be opening the super-chilled bottles of Gordons and Stolichnaya in the eternal search for the perfect Dry Martini, but no I'm off to Tesco.
We've just picked some mange tout from the garden to accompany the leftover lamb with crispy chilli noodles that will be scoffed tomorrow. Growing my own non-hallucinogenic plants? Help.
All very fluffy, but it's not exactly rock and bleedin' roll, is it?
*sighs*

Full of energy dog, or lazy dog?
You also apparently like ceilidhs. Nice.

Thanks - Henry's ace. Lazy most of the time except for walking when he's happy to keep going all day.
Are you a ceilidhgoer yourself? Haven't been to one in a while mind.
Btw - pardon my asking (and displaying my ignorance) - but what was the great fire of B3TA?

The fire of B3ta was when there was a fire in the severs and B3ta was down for about a week.
Everything moved to some random place and everyone hung out there like refugees for a while. I mainly played Mornington Crescent.
The fire also took out the servers of the forum MrL posts on. We nearly had to have a conversation.

It was a dark, dark week.
And yes, I am a ceilidh goer, although these days I mostly play at them, and haven't danced at one in ages.

Cool - if you're not in Scotland, do they have ceilidhs elsewhere? I only go to them when I'm up in Scotland, which isn't nearly often enough :(

But this summer we have also done 2 in England and 3 in Ireland. You would think our band was popular or something.

for a mates birthday. There were over 100 people there, it would appear that it's quite a popular way to spend a friday night

Mostly because if you aren't sweating from doing it, you aren't doing it hard enough.
I might head to London at some point just to go to that place and see what it's like.

Ceilidh is very popular in Cornwall, so I've been to a good many in my time. And that place MM posted a link to is a right laugh - had a good, sweaty night there!
