I'm really tierd, bored, and can't sleep.
I've sworn off booze and drugs for 2 weeks.

I have drunk 5 shots of Night Nurse and taken 4 Nytol; they haven't helped.

Do any of you have any tips to help me snooze?

One thing I finds works
is counting backwards from 100 in your head with a steady rhythm. If you make a mistake you start at 100 again.
Get your breathing in time with the rhythm and it should do the trick.

Have you considered the drugs or rock'n'roll alternatives?

I find
An axe repeatedly smashed into the spinal column puts people to sleep quite nicely.

Err, yes, exercise, I sleep like a log nowadays after a good workout and light food, and drinking 10 less cups of tea a day probably helps

Also, drugs tend to keep me awake...

And I've given up on drugs in order to reach the heady heights of success in work.

I meant me! I drink about 10 less cups of tea a day, twinings herbal infusions might make you look a plank, but are a good substitute.

Valerian
is the best thing that I've found, after my good friend mary jane.

make sure you get the extract in liquid form rather than capsules or something. squirt a load of it into your mouth and swill it around for 30 seconds (tastes grim) then swallow it. got me through my finals with a normal amount of sleep after I'd given up the grass for a while.

also, cut out tea altogether. you'll be better off in the long run. I barely drink any these days and I feel much more awake more of the time.

Knock the tea on the head! My fella drinks a cup of tea every half hour but he smokes enough weed to counteract it. I keep up with him for the first 4 cups and then spend the rest of the night buzzin' me tits off on PG Tips. It's a sneaky bastard, the caffeine in tea. Go onto decaff stuff, maybe.

I agree with CHCB
Knock one out - that's one of the best ways of ensuring a good night's kip. I personally find ovaltine and radio 4 to be the best method for me and that includes when I'm on nights.

What a prescription: Wanking, radio 4 and ovaltine.

Depending
On which drugs you'r cutting out and how much booze, its gonna take at least 3 days before you get a good settled night.

Don't bother with sleeping tablets or night nurse or other rubbish. Its just swapping one drug for another.

Drink a litre of OJ every day and have a nice mug of warm milk before you go to bed, and by Thursday you should be out like a light and dreaming properly again.

Decaf tea
We have it at work and it tastes the same :) Which is good as I drink about 10 cups in the working day...

I also find that doing puzzles (su doku, crosswords etc) at night makes me sleepy. Erm..
