A friend of mine has very strong views on what constitutes a pie
Pubs quite often serve what is basically a casserole with a pastry lid on it.
If he is ever served one he will kick up a fuss and send it back.
A pie must be entirely encased in pastry in order to qualify as a pie.

Unless they state TOPPED or some such a pie needs to be fully encased
