Not on your nelly! Deciding on lunch. Work has decided that they want to change their sandwhich place whilst all the bods in charge are away for the day. (they buy us lunch every friday! Yay! )
It's proving to be tricky. Any suggestions for a good sandwhich. Answers on a postcard please as orders to be in by 10! :-O

even though my bathroom will be usable soon,
I'm tempted to carry on using the shower at work
it's really nice!
looks like there is going to be some surf this weekend which is nice. now all we need is for the sun to shine!
edit: @weekirst: tuna mayo, spring onion and sweet chilli sauce, preferrably in a bagel

Tuna's the worst though, the thought of tuna coming anywhere near my mouth makes me want to gag. It looks like it would feel like eating fishy, wet, grey cardboard.

I'll still offer her a cup of tea though, it'd be rude not to.

It's a weird thing... Apparently, my local council needs to differentiate between Asian Pakistani and Asian Bangladeshi, yet settles for simply "White" to describe 98% of the population. However, they have the stupidity to leave a category blank for "Other: Please complete", which I take full advantage of.
As someone of Celtic-Saxon (and according to family legend my little toe on my left foot is apparently Japanese) origin I take full advantage of detailing my ethnic makeup.
*Edit* I know the Kid Rock song, I keep expecting him to break into "Sweet Home Alamama" at any minute, he even references it in the lyrics. Reminiscent of "Summer of Sixty Nine".

*Edit* I know the Kid Rock song, I keep expecting him to break into "Sweet Home Alamama" at any minute, he even references it in the lyrics. Reminiscent of "Summer of Sixty Nine".

friday!!!
I'm LOVING the fact that it's Friday.
I started the morning by having some of those new Fox biscuits (biscuits made BY Fox, not OF fox) that have strawberry jam in them. Then I got a crappy meeting with another department manager that we've both been avoiding out of the way. The air con is broken at work so any staff that are in have taken themselves to different rooms so I can fart about online without feeling guilty, AND I'm going to V for the first time and I'm sooooo excited!
So, yeah. Morning all :)

Morning Kaol, my lovely!
I'm off to DC next Friday - YAY! Can't bloody wait, even though it's like 100 degrees or something. Feck.
I had a mini-bash with Maladicta and Wookiee last night, and I'm sad to report that Wookiee and I had to put Maladicta on the train at Charing Cross because she had somehow become broken whilst out with us.
Oops.

Ah, but...
The wonderful spectrum of human colour includes people that my gran would describes as 'black as the ace of spades'.
As Billy Connolly once said "So black that when the light shone on him he looked blue".
It's a gorgeous colour. Unlike this pasty whiteness.

And she just pronounced Montreal as Mont Real.
I've just made her a cup of tea and I think I'll buy her a cake later. She's making me smile.

Maladicta...
we weren't even all that drunk, but Wookiee and I panicked because Wheely Man was at the pub and we had to run away (long, tedious story behind that).
Maladicta didn't see the curb, and fell, twisting her ankle. Wookiee went to Sainsbury's and bought frozen peas for the injury and I fed her painkillers. Then we took her to the station in a cab, bought her a pasty and put her on the train. Poor thing! She was in loads of pain.
*feels sad*

The Story of Wheely Man
Monday night, Wookiee and I were at the pub having a crafty beer or five before hometime. Wheely Man came up to us to share our ashtray - he (obviously) is in a wheelchair and is also a royal pain in the arse because he's an amateur historian, member of every committee ever, an expert on matters of the mind - fuck me, he doesn't half go on.
We couldn't get rid of him - he was waffling on about kinesthetic learning and shit, and then said, 'I'm dyslexic, you know,' at which point Wookiee said, 'No, I don't think so. It sounds to me more likely you have an autistic spectrum disorder,' and then proceeeded to argue with him about brain stuff while I sat and listened and tried not to cry.
We now hide from Wheely Man cos he likes us (and nicks all of Wookiee's smokes).
Kaol - yes, there was another one on Friday night, wasn't there? I must attract wheelchair metal, bit like a mental magnet.

Although the first meeting you had with a b3tan proved that :p
EDIT: When I do bar work, I end up being a weirdo magnet, but I then play the "can I out creep them" game.
Sometimes I win, sometimes I don't.
There was one man who flipped when I held his hand for thirty seconds, smiling, as I gave him back his change.
Didn't see him again all night.

In London though. Tiny little places with just enough room for 6 people at the bar. Some friends and I have done a walking tour of pubs like that and ended up in some ace places with plenty to look at along the way.

@wanderlust re London bar-crawl
I was going to suggest you organise something for when I was still in London after the bash, but then clendrix asked for it to be when she came back. Perhaps the September 18th bash could be turned into a bar-crawl.
@DiT Re bash limit: There is one if you're unemployed and live far away.

It's a good idea but as that bash is on a Thursday it might not work. I'm sure people will be coming from work and going on a pub crawl after work always ends up with a very sore head the day after! I think a Saturday would be a good day to do it, if other people are up for it. It's just finding a Saturday to do it on!

I won't be in London on a Saturday after the bash for the forseeable future. Enjoy yourselves and raise a glass to those who couldn't make it.

I currently have two interviews lined up a few days after the bash. Also, I may be interviewed by phone for a contracting position, and have also recently sent off a completed questionnaire.
The two companies I'm interviewing with have both re-scheduled my interviews after we agreed a date, but thankfully, they've stopped playing musical-chairs with my time-slots.

Ah.
Unfortunately, then, I can't. I'll be at a wedding.
BUMS!
I've only ever been to Ireland once, and that was to Limerick in 1992. My 2nd cousin was a lecturer at the University there.
These are strange memories. Including when, before I got the plane home (on my own, I might add) and the police were checking the 'plane, he said "there's probably a bomb on it".
Just what a 12-year-old wants to hear.

Is this the pre-weekend slump, when that last 90 minutes seems interminable?

She can't spell Canada and she asked me if Scotland is in a different time zone.
Edit: A different time zone from England.

Well...
Scotland is in a different time zone, sort of.
The only reason the time is the same all over the UK is so that trains can run to a uniform timetable - this is one of the relics of the Victorian era, along with daylight savings (when some posh bloke thought commoners should be getting up earlier and getting some excercise in).
So yeah... The real time in Scotland is very slightly different to the real time here. Or something. She may just be a genius.
EDIT: Agreed, the people need to know if she is hotornot. Alright, it might just be me and Vipros.
DOUBLE EDIT: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_Mean_Time - that's what I was talking about.

All this time I thought the correct spelling was Canada, when in fact it must be Canda.
I think I should go to Mont Real in Canda and check!

I know a lot of chaps who'll be turned right off someone who's good looking but gobby and stupid.
It took the Radio One breakfast show bosses quite a while to figure out that one out...

Was multitasking earlier today but the real world got the better of me.
I've been requested by one of the companies I've applied for to send out a CD with examples of my work. I'm giving them a little easter-egg as a bonus. If you pop the CD in an Audio-CD player instead of a CD-ROM drive, you get to hear me singing.

I like to think I can sing (I usually only sing at Karaoke evenings). On another forum I frequent, I posted an mp3 of me singing Elvis Presley's Hound-Dog (that I made when I visited Memphis, USA). Someone noticed it and felt I had just the right voice for what he had in mind (something punk-rock-ish), so I recorded the vocals. The end-result is what I'm including on my CD as an easter-egg.
