It's difficult to see Russia backing down. There are so many Russians in the Ukraine that don't want to be EU affiliated that if the Russians don't take it there will be civil war.

Yeah, something like 70% of the population of Crimea are Russian.It doesn't seem that outrageous for Russia to offer some sort of protection to these people.
