IIRC you're entitled to compensation if a delay is over 5 hours.
Unless it's cancelled, then your rights regarding delays go bye bye, and a whole different set of rights apply. Which most airlines happily ignore.

Had a three day stopover in Bratislava once thanks to a cancellation.
Still pursuing a payout, the regulators are on our side, but it has be dealt with in the jurisdiction of the country you were flying from. Which means we're getting fucking nowhere.
