Right. This is in IE.
GO to a neutral site. Google, or something.
Close all other browser tabs.
Go to Tools, then Internet Options.
In the Browsing History section click "Delete".
Untick all boxes except for Temporary Internet Files and the COokies one.
Click delete.
Wait for yellow banner at bottom of page.
Reload B3ta.
Adverts gone.

I get a nice shiny white box at the top of the page now.

Well for me it was:
click on AdBlock Edge icon, select "open blockable items"
in the new pane at the bottom of the screen, find "static.usvsth3m..." and double click on the line.
click "add filter" at the bottom, it defaults to the block pattern that I mentioned.

Windows has an inbuilt system to allow remote access from anywhere. You enable it, give me your machine deets, I can log in.
At least, it was there in XP. Haven't bothered looking in later versions.
