Lots of them aren't 'proper' 4x4's.
Some of the Kia's and Nissan's aren't even 4 wheel drive.

Ouch!
I moved down south over 20 years ago. Primarily because of my missionary work with the heathens, and secondly because the weather was shit and the M66 regularly was like a rink. It was a struggle at first, but I've finally found a chippy that does gravy.
