Latest update on my band's upcoming recordings
Our drummer spoke to the guy who will be engineer/producing us, and it turns out that not only did he engineer some AC/DC stuff (Bon Scott era) but he's also done some Black Sabbath and Simple Minds.

Also, he sounds like a nice guy, and is looking forward to it. Both good news!

He's told us to buy new strings and polish our cymbals!

Oh yes!
Polished cymbals are very important. It's what I always look for when listening to new music.

Don't just polish, buff as well.

Definitely new strings!
You know the story of Pink Floyd's "One Of These Days", don't you? The reason that one bass sounds rather dull compared to the other is that it had old strings on it. They sent out a roadie to get new strings, but he elected to go visit his girlfriend for the weekend instead, so they had to record it with old strings.

Re-string the guitars! It will pay off!

the other guitarist and I get through strings so fast that it won't be an issue
our double bass player on the other hand is slightly loathe to shell out the £100 necessary to get a new set, particularly as they are only a year old which is in the infancy of the life of a set of double bass strings.

He also doesn't think that new strings will hide the fact that he has a cheap chinese-made double bass ;-)

we have bought our singer a new guitar though, which will improve things no end!
