and was told that it would take 4-5 working days for the cash to reach me. Fair enough a bit slow but...
Still hasn't got here after 6 days, I call the phone gimp. THEY'VE ONLY GOT MY FUCKING SORT CODE WRONG! It's now in a lost a/c and I'll get it in 4-5 working days.
Fuck that get me line manager gimp. He parrots the same, and says he'll send me a complaints form. It'll take up to 10 working days. FFS one day overdrawn and I'm charged, how come it takes so long?
Bastards.

It very much varies where the money has gone, i.e. which bank has wrongly received the money. Some Banks are very good and can sort this out within 1-2 days. If it's been sent to one of the less organised banks, apparently it can take up to 6 weeks to sort out.
If you didn't give them the wrong account number (Did you call them? They should have a recording of the call.) Then I'd certainly say you should get some sort of compensation for the lost interest and inconvenience.

No, it was their mistake; the guy said it was a typing error. They had my correct details from the a/c I transferred it from, the
y just fucked it up.

and got the sort code wrong when entering your data. Damn bureaucracy is why they're probably taking forever to see to your complaint rather than sorting it out immediately.
Hope it's sorted out and that they might compensate you for that very unfair overdrawn charge.

It's their fault, they should take the hit and give you your money immediately? They will be re-imbursed eventually so why should you wait?

complaint into the ombusdsman in any case - it'll cost them 270 quid either way then.
That'll teach 'em for trying to hold on to your money for the interest as long as possible.
Then sue them for the lost interest you could have gained by moving the money to a country where they didn't allow the banks to run roughshod all over us.
Trust me - you'd win.
