There will be no poll today, or BOAT.

*Slinks out*

But but but...
I made SANDWICHES and everything!
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:21, Reply)
ships are better anyway

(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:21, Reply)
This distresses me greatly.
I think I'm going to have to spend all morning listening to we are sailing by Rod Stewart and touching myself until the world feels right again.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:23, Reply)
Well,
as heartfelt as your remarks so clearly are, BOAT was like Hendrix. It revolutionised the world we live in for 8 hours and then flashed out of existence, but in that one flash it made our world a brighter place.

Also, even I'm fucking sick of polls.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:28, Reply)
But....but....but......
What will I do with my life now?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:35, Reply)
Me too.
Who else is sick of polls?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:37, Reply)
What the hell
Is all this boat lark anyway? I missed most of yesterday and all I know is that BOAT was an option in a poll.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:38, Reply)
BOAT
was something beautiful. And BGB, you'll find your way. There's always cocks.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:41, Reply)
COCKS!
No, doesn't have the same ring to it.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:43, Reply)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!111eleventy-one!!!!
Love is boat...
/sniff
/shrugs shoulders

Maybe I should do some work today.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:43, Reply)
I have no intention of working
but I like to consider myself a versatile entertainer. I shall think of something else to increase the odds of you all getting fired.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:48, Reply)
Yay!
Cockrings!
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:49, Reply)
And to think I was going to try and introduce
BOAT-OX

The semi-aquatic, bovine cosmetic surgeon.

But you're right. BOAT has probably run its course. Today can be the day of the cockring.

EDIT: I am presently unable to get into the packaging of my flapjack. Updates on progress to follow.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 8:54, Reply)
My day will be spent
Thinking up ideas for a gay nativity play I'm looking to write. I'm stuck on the 3 gifts, because ideally I want them to match the number of syllables in gold, frankincence and mhyrr (or however you spell them). This, of course, rules out body glitter, which sucks. Any ideas would be hugely appreciated.

Oh, and nobody say vibrator like my mate did last night. You don't buy a baby a vibrator for xmas - that's just weird.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:01, Reply)
Well the syllables don't match,
but how about Gay, Frankie (goes to Hollywood) and Mwah!

Well, it's a start. I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

FLAPJACK UPDATE: I think I have found a weak point on the wrapper. Breakfast will soon be mine. I just hope my coffee doesn't go cold in the meantime...
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:14, Reply)
:(
I'm sad that BOAT is over, but you're right. BOAT ain't go no place anymo....
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:15, Reply)
Ironically
that poll was the most voted of all the Mini Polls and BOAT is almost the most popular answer ever. What a fad!
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:29, Reply)
I think this is a sure sign that BOAT must return to its rightful place someday
Latest:
Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I am attempting to use the heat from my coffee to melt the plastic wrapping around my flapjack. I fear that I am going to dilute my coffee with melted plastic.

I would have preferred milk.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:33, Reply)
@Supreme crow
I always find that teeth help in times like this.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:35, Reply)
Too late, BGB
My efforts to get into the wrapping have reached such extremes that I now find myself trapped inside the wrapper with the flapjack.

In the short term, this is most WOO, as it means I can eat the flapjack.

In the long term, I must find a way to escape. Preferably before my coffee gets cold.

Sorry, it's going to be one of those mornings

Edit: It did occur to me that if I was a real crow, I wouldn't have teeth. Current evidence suggests I am not a real crow, and that is why I have to come into work.

I also feel even sillier as my office is just next door to a lab full of sharp implements.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:37, Reply)
And knives.
Big sharp knives.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:38, Reply)
While BOAT may be having a rest
I'm still mightily chuffed that my silly little threads can keep up with the home sweet home threads, response wise.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:39, Reply)
I'm disappointed
I thought BOAT was the way forward for me.

You're no swordfishtrombone, more of a halibutsackbut, which isn't as good.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:42, Reply)
Well I'm not swordfish
since someone stole my sodding name. And BOAT will return. In fact, if my QOTW post gets into the newsletter then BOAT may get a mention, in which case I shall bring it back.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:44, Reply)
Is this a splinter group of the home sweet home thread?
What are our policies?

They have hugs, cake and kittums.

What do we have?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:45, Reply)
We have BOAT!

Probably need something else, though.

Marmite?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:48, Reply)
Marmite
aaaand....erm....ooh, I have a Mr T action figure in my bag as my good luck charm. Will that do?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:54, Reply)
Oh, yes!
Also, I have a plastic crow sitting on my desk at the moment.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:55, Reply)
So we are the BOAT
Marmite, Crow and T initiative.

We are the BMCTI! Or something
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 9:56, Reply)
me!
I have one of those god-awful Russian dolls with the mini ones inside. I am willing to donate it to the club.

I also have a New York mug on my desk (despite never having been there) and a magnifying glass with a little light.

Will any of those do?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:06, Reply)
Absolutely
And I have a glass mug with a line across it halfway down saying "This glass is now half empty".

That'll help jolly things up a bit.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:07, Reply)
I have a small buddha.
But I don't really want to give him up.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:09, Reply)
Awww
but Buddha is everywhere isn't he?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:16, Reply)
/checks rectum
Yes, it would appear so.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:22, Reply)
can i play with you splinter group people?
um... i have a toy cowgirl with a plaster cast on her arm (it's supposed to be me) and a rubber lobster which squeaks when you squeeze it...
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:22, Reply)
A squeaky rubber lobster?
BOAT needs you. Come inside and be welcome.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:28, Reply)
Since we're now a fully fledged group
Are we supposed to blow stuff up or something?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:34, Reply)
We could do.
As far as I know, the only groups that blow stuff up are Terrorist Groups, Demolition Companies and The Who*.

What would you like to blow up?

*The band, not the World Health Organisation. It wouldn't look too good on their record if they went around smashing things.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:38, Reply)
We
should blow up /talk.

Not sure how you can go about it. Maybe if we all go there and say BOOM!
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:40, Reply)
^ Now that would be funny.
It must be done and your just the guy to do it.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:45, Reply)
Can I suggest a splinter group theme song?
There was this song on Sooty once (God, how on earth do I remember this?!) called "Messing about with BOATs". I just remember one line:

"water? water?! Do you really think that you oughta?". Great times.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:47, Reply)
You had to say Guy when discussing explosions didn't you
Well, I'm not doing owt till the 5th November. And it has to be well synchronised. And the BOAT Song sounds good.

And we finally know what BOAT is - a group of people with things on their desks! Yay!
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:49, Reply)

I don't have sound on my work puter : (
.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:52, Reply)
Me neither :o(
So I'm desperately hoping that my recall of the "water? water? Do you really think that you oughta" line was not a bizarre dream or fetish or something. And I'll look like a bumface.

I can't wait to get home later to watch in full sound-laden glory.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:54, Reply)
I might
even tubehuntery it and embed it in my profile if I can. I want my own theme song!
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:56, Reply)
i have to confess
when you said blow up things, i was unsure whether you were talking explosives or inflatables (kind of like those canvassers who hand out Labour coloured balloons to kiddies thinking that one day they might vote for them)
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:56, Reply)
^ That's a good point, actually
I did receive a tip-off that it's possible to buy inflatable crows.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 10:59, Reply)
Inflatables
I vote for non-offensive blowing up of things. Not dead bodies flying everywhere blowing up of things.

I motion for BOAT people to have at least one inflatable thing on their desk!

*doh, need to buy something, quick!
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:02, Reply)
Well...
If we can get an inflatable BOAT, fill it with our desk stuff and send it across the channel (which I can do), that'd be quite beautiful.

And we can go and BOOM the /talkers.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:02, Reply)
I've just called B3ta HQ...

To leave an anonymous message regarding the impending bomb attack on /talk.

My conscience is now clear. Any person still around when it goes off knows the risks, and therefore deserve everything they get.

Bloody typical! - I miss out on BOAT day, and it looks like it's already all over...

or metamorphasising into some sort of 'mini fight club' scenario
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:11, Reply)
Aaaaah Pooflake
you're welcome to join BOAT. We're just not so loud about it today. All good things in moderation and all that jazz.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:19, Reply)
is BOAT still on then?
I was a little saddened at the propsect of it being abandoned....
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:21, Reply)
^ Jazz, yes!
We should have JAZZ for BOAT. It would make us seem slightly classy.

And welcome, Pooflake, unto the fleshy manifold of BOAT. It is very much still on.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:22, Reply)
Ahoy! me hearties etc...

This is the perfect opportunity to explain the Captain Birdseye outfit I wear on Fridays...

(and it's nothing to do with my secret desire of creating a 'crew' consisting entirely of children...oh no.)
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:22, Reply)
Aaaah fuck it - BOAT is back then.
I couldn't be arsed to change my profile photo anyway.

Go out and do BOATY things, my sexy little jazz-kittens
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:25, Reply)
If I do join BOAT...

You'll need to recruit at least three others to sit on the other side...as Ballast. I don't want to tip it over and ruin your collective inflatable desk goodies...

Am I being too literal here?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:25, Reply)
Far too literal
But since we've added Jazz to the mix, it's all groovay.

I may be a little bit ebonic today - I do apologise.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:29, Reply)
I've just spent the last hour trying to concoct a Boat Sweet Boat picture.
I only have paint and a smattering of talent with that and have come to the conclusion that I'm just going to give up and wait for someone else to think of it.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:33, Reply)
BGB
Why not get your Buddha to hold up a sign and photograph it?
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:34, Reply)
I'll have to have a go when I get home.
I'm not that computer savvy so everything takes me 5 times as long.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:38, Reply)
I'll do one with Mr T, Crow can do one with Crow
and Kitsune can do one with the Lobster. It's all cosmadellic, baybeh
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:40, Reply)
there is one ready made on the interweb...
although technically this is probably theft (but i don't have my camera cables on me today to make my own lobster one)

(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 11:52, Reply)
Alas, I don't own a camera
So I can't photograph myself and Hattie Jacques* in a boat. I'll see what I can concoct with images shamelessly lifted from teh interweb and edited using my appalling 'shop skills.

*My Carry-On Crow

Edit: Bollocks, I almost had something and then Gimp crashed. May try again later.
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 12:18, Reply)
*twiddles thumbs*
So where does this go from now?

Think I'll go and touch someone's BOATtom
(, Fri 21 Nov 2008, 13:11, Reply)
If BOAT is back
I think the text of the OP might be sending out the wrong message :)
