I've off to see Australias 3rd best band (after Something For Kate and Silverchair) play in Manchester tonight.
Anybody else going?

I deserve a slap for that.
John Butler Trio are alright, but I prefer Something for Kate, and Silverchair started off as a poor mans Nirvana but albums three and four really showed they could cut it on their own. Sadly Album five was utter, utter bilge.

I've never heard Silverchair but my music bible allmusic.com actually rates their 5th album. So I'm afraid you must be wrong!

I have shunned them since, I may listen to a later album now

The Bad Seeds
The Birthday Party
Grinderman
(bit of a Nick Cave fanboy)

I think they're a pile of monkey wank to be honest - probably more wanky than WANKallica
I rather rate 'The Herd' as well for a little bit of hip-hop goodness

AC/DC don't count in a contest of who is the best band.

that Agnostic is taking the piss, he is also wrong, since they are from NeW ZeAlAnD.

I was thinking along the same lines. Although I still really have a hard time seeing why "DLD" was put out as a Seeds, rather than a Grinderman, album.
And the moustache must go, too.

are both Australian (and shit)
Didn't know who you were referring to with your NZ comment al

just to do with the fact that Grinderman are a smaller band? He's also toured just as Nick Cave with pretty much the Grinderman lineup I think. Agreed DLD does sound more like Grinderman than the last Bad Seeds album.
They're also featured on the new Seasick Steve album although I haven't heard that, should be well good! And apparently working on a new Grinderman album...
He's so prolific it's unreal. Apparently he has an office (as in separate from his house) and he just goes there 9-5 every day, 5 days a week, and writes!

of TOFOG are from New Zealand. I would argue they are not australian.

live in Hove, I always wonder if I might bump into him when I go to see my parents.

So even though some of them are Kiwis, I would classify them as an Australian band...
I didn't know Nick Cave lived in Hove!
(, Fri 5 Dec 2008, 13:54, Reply)
even classify them as a band as they are utterly shit.

They are a band in the same way Russell Crowe is an actor.
