This makes me very sad.
My mother was upset when John Lennon was shot, my father was distressed at Bob Marley's passing.
Which musician's death has affected you most and why?

Their cover of the Count Five's Psychotic Reaction - in itself one of my favourite songs - is exemplary.

...the band who did a gig at a mental asylum in front of all the patients?
Great group.

Because I'm 14, miserable and don't wash.
Actually I was kinda gutted about Elliot Smith and John Peel (ok not musician but worthy methinks).

Dimebag Darrell, without a doubt.
The upside was, it made a shitload more people listen to Pantera, and be as gutted as I was!

The one that affected me most was Johnny Cash. The man had so much power and strength in his voice.
The fact that he lived on so long despite personal tragedy and problems with drugs spoke volumes.

Makes me sad. The Cramps were such evil fun.
If I made a list, it would be too long. I will just go with Elliot Smith today. Angel voice, brilliant composer and player. *big tears*

When he was finally declared legally dead on my birthday :(

The poor fellow was only just getting the credit he deserved - really unfair.
Similarly The Ramones (bar Tommy, obv) - years of slogging it out in the wilderness. Finally they start to get their rightful recognition and the poor buggers all cark it. Awful.

They're only bloody musicians. Throw a rock around here and it'll bounce off 2 guitarists and a drummer before it hits the ground.
We need regular culls.

But the drummer would either eat it or try to shag it.

that one hurt, it seemed like he was really going places.

Because he wasn't that much older than me and a real hero of mine.
But when I think Bob Marley was only 36 when he died....

Because I was 14, miserable and didn't wash.
Seriously though, Nirvana's music hit me at the right age, and I was learning guitar at the time, so Live in New York was really an influential album in my life. Kurt and his bandmates were an influence on my musical direction.
I'm considerably less depressed these days :)
