Then again when the newsreader informed us that Jeremy had apologised for calling him a one eyed idiot, but that some people were still not satisfied - they wanted him to apologise for using the term 'scottish' too.

It has to be said in the absence of someone else saying it..
..that it was a pretty poor insult. "scottish" and "one-eyed" don't really carry much power as put-downs unless met with appropriate misanthropy by someone who is not scottish or one-eyed. "Idiot" is pretty weak too.

But let Supercar Clarkson say what he likes, especially halfway round the world from here, and especially when he is talking about a Prime Minister far weaker than Clarkson's jokes.
