Swine Flu
This outbreak of flu has got me a bit hot and bothered so I've blogged about it here:

I've also started a Swine Flu Spread map on Google and would like a hand in keeping it updated. If this is the start of a big pandemic it would be interesting to keep a historical record of the spread.

Of course, it could be a load of old bollocks and might fizzle out in a week. Which would be nice.

If this does go pandemic then two things will be true.

1: The Melbourne Bash will be cancelled

2: Your proposed trip to the UK will also bite the dust....

Historically, we're way overdue for another pandemic flu and remember, we have no defences, vaccines or anything else that can help. We just have to do what our ancestors had to do. Sit there and suck it up.


On the bright side though - I've a shit record at predicting *anything* so, if I say it's going to happen then you can probably safely bet on the opposite.

Yes of course, there is a history of these diseases not wiping out loads of people. Ebola, SARS, HN51 and so on.

However, sooner or later there will be another pandemic. This might be it, it might not be.

My swine flu failed to get into Madagascar, Cuba and Japan before those countries closed their airports and harbours.

As a result there are still 170 million people alive after my pandemic has burnt itself out. I have to figure out how to make sneakier diseases.
