Watched 'Solaris' last night, had a mild blub over the situation Clooney is in (hey, I miss the Wife, waddayagonnadoaboutit?).
So here it is. Let's say you find the one true love of your life.
Let's say that he/she then dies.
You then get presented the option of living without them, or living with a facsimilie of them based on your memories - but you'll always know they weren't the original.
How do you choose?

But I'd rather live without them.
A fascimile is never ever going to be the same...you won't have that closeness, the warmth, the feelings that can't be expressed.
so cold bitch that I am - if my one goes, then my feelings do too. I'd be absolutely gutted but I'd have to put it behind me and at least attempt to move on.
Because I think if I carked it now I'd want my person to move on and find somebody else who can make them happy without me.

...but watching the bit where he meets her again, and the look in his eyes (great acting in this film, by the way), then I think I would have caved in and accepted the facsimilie, just to have her back again.
I figured it was the 9 bevvies that made me blub last nite, but just welled up again.
I miss my Missus, thank god she's back at 7pm (yaaay!).

but without the ability to speak.
At least the cow would shut up then.

as in another person who is exactly the same as they were, only they can't do new experiences and would essentially be stuck on a loop?
Bugger that, onwards and upwards.

Bugger it, on and up, like you say.

Bigger boobiedoos? Snugger hoo-ha? More receptive to bum-bum lovin' and a more tolerant attitude towards thoughtless behaviour?

I laughed at that. Now my tummy hurts from laughing so much.

Was it just me who found that ending incredibly upsetting and... I dunno, she was so busy kissing the fake one to say goodbye to the real one?
I'd prefer to live without. I'm sure things would work out, but if they didn't, at least I know I once knew the real thing.
Memories are often corrupted/edited, anyway.

the original stuffed and placed in my lounge. Maybe holding a tray so I could use it to put drinks on when I host my cocktail parties.
