Arse biscuits.
It's a glorious sunny afternoon, and I'm indoors painting the hall. Currently I'm about halfway there and it's becoming really obvious that the one tin won't be enough. Plus it's drying as patchy as fuck, even though it's supposed to be one coat paint.

And the missus is out with the car and won't be back for some time.

Knickers.

Painting and redecorating is all about preperation,
you've failed miserably at that, thus I have no sympathy for you.

Ah, but I did prepare
walls were primed and everything, the paints's just proving to be a bastard to get to cover evenly.

However, I have just remembered theres a DIY place along the street and they have 2 tins of the same shade left, so hurrah and all that.

Aha! I think I see your problem!
One coat paint is fine for Barratt homes - anything built after about 1950.

If you've got an older house it'll just fall off the wall.

Err..did you try a PVA wash on the wall first?

Yup
If the paint had been covering properly one tin would have done the job.

Ah well.

Right - well remember this
10-1 PVA, spread it frugal,
You've got a finish like Pieter Brueghel,
No PVA you've dropped a bollock,
You've got a wall by Jackson Pollock.

One coat paint doesn't exist
Well, it does so long as you enjoy having a wall slightly lighter than the previous colour.

This sounds like the perfect time to go out and have a beer in the garden.

Got no beer :(
However the DIY place is right next to Aldi so I could get some fine ale from there...

I like that plan!

Alas
as is the usual case there was a ten-strong queue of laden shopping trolleys and one person on the till. Couldn't be arsed to wait.

But there's still wine from last night :)

or...
you could just breathe deeply with the paint fumes....
