and there's a wildlife exhibition type thingy on with loads of stuffed animals (taxidermy, not beanie babies). In the sealife section was a narwhal horn.
Up until that moment I had honestly thought that narwhals were mythical creatures, like a unicorn or a dragon, and the only reference I had seen to them was in an episode of Futurama. When I mentioned this to my friends, they mocked me ceaselessly and even a small (yet probably studious) child nearby who had overheard my confession looked at me with disdainful pity.
Is there anything you have been shockingly ignorant of that you really should have known, or is it just me that's spectacularly retarded?

it made me laugh because I'm immature. I typed 'wellies' into an email this morning and the autocorrect changed it to willies, so the sentence was "I'll be taking my willies just in case" which made me officelol.

My other (significant) was under the same impression until I showed her a video of a narwhal migration.

In a conversation wiht my ex's sister's boyfirned (complex) who lives in Leeds, he mentioned something like how York United had brown shirts with a big Y on them, making it look like a pair of underpants.
I asked "Why a Y? Why not a W? York's spelt with a W!"
My god. I'm supposed to be intelligent!
