Good morning you sexy geeks.
I need some techy help pleeeease.

I have an Acer Aspire 3630 laptop, and I was wondering the simplest way to connect it to a television. I don't think it has a TV card, but it does have a socket for another monitor. Is there not just a simple cable that could connect the two?

Cheers

Yes there is,
what connectors do you have free on your TV?
You need a cable that goes from VGA to [whatever you have free on the back of your TV]

I've got a spare scart on the back,
and the 3 seperate colours free on the front (the two stereo and the the video ones that are like a scart split i think).

Aha, VGA to scart cable. Is it that simple?

I've never seen a laptop without some sort of external display connector.
Even 15 year olds have S-Video.

I'ld say, with the way technology is going, at least in the UK, streaming off the internet would get the result you want.

You can get USB Video-in Cards, in my experiance, they're not very good, but my experiance is very limited. If you're going to get one, get one with at least two tuners, so you can record'n'watch at the same time.

MONG !
I just re-read that.

If you have a VGA and [most flatscreen tellys], you can put two and two together, but sound doesn't seem to carry with that.

If your telly doesn't have a VGA (sometimes called "PC INPUT"), your laptop might have S-Video.
S-Video is round with 5 pins.

so is S Video the same as SVHS?

EDIT: Just wikipedia'd it, same connectors apparently.

Cheers for your help, all 3 of you. I shall name my first born Kachompgonz
