That's not selfish at all!
It's her that's be selfish and ungrateful - she not realising that you know *exactly* how she feels and that you've given her so much space to just be her when she needed it. She's the selfish one there.

I don't know what she was in jail for, but
it sounds like she likley has some serious mental health issues. Her Dad is not helping her at all by what he is doing. he must be pretty emotionally lazy/wimpy to take the easy way out and suck up to his daughter instead of telling her like it is and to MTFU.

Good Luck you did the right thing. If your partner doesn't support you, he/she is not really a partner.
