In retrospect
Hiding the cake by standing in front of it probably wasn't the best idea. Perhaps you could fix the leaks by plugging them with cake.

Adhesive icing with a good solid cake-body would do the trick
and for good measure, if it was the customer's birthday, the cake-plugs would have a candle on them too.

You could use the candle holders as the cake substitute of rawl plugs
I wonder just how much weight you could hang off one? At least two bushels of kittens I'd have thought.
