Fish and chips for dinner for me for tonight for real.
What do you get from the chippy?
(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:04, 23 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Chips and battered sausage
but I'm always disappointed by the quality of the sausage. Hmm... I've got some banging bangers in the freezer... I think I just hatched a cunning plan.

And curry sauce, and a can of shandy.

Shandy?
Surely dandelion & burdock is the connoisseurs choice of beverage when ordering at the chippy.
(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:09, Reply)
It's always been shandy - you'll be lucky to get dandelion and burdock in a chippy down our way.
Top Deck back in the day - lager and lime if they had it. Now it's not the same if it's not Bass.

the same
Patty butty (ask Workboresme for more details) if funds are low
(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:08, Reply)
I'ld quite like to hear it from the horse's mouth, what ARE the details?

(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:10, Reply)
It's a fish cake
well, more like a mashed potato and sage fritter, battered and fried. In a breadcake.

It's far nicer than it sounds.
(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:33, Reply)
Is it crispy?

(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:43, Reply)
It varies per chippy
Waters Green (RIP) - Fish & Chips, or Chips & Curry
Dane Bridge - Sausage, Chips & Gravy
Hurdsfield One (Don't know what it's called) - Chips, Rice & Curry
Acropolis - Double cheeseburger & Chips
Pizza Pantry - Triple Cheeseburger & Chips.

I really have a terrible diet!

Chips'n'rice !??!?!?!
Burger and a fish'n'chip place? Are you sure you haven't gotten kabab place and chippy confused?
(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:12, Reply)
Positive
It's a chinese chippy, and everything but what I order is shit.
(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:13, Reply)
Why would a chinese own a chippy when they can make chinese food?
This is all so terribly confusing.
(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:17, Reply)
.
Because the chinese food from there is terrible!

Macclesfield
It's a very odd place.

AA, the one up Hurdsfield Road is called Spring Gardens, unless you mean the Chinese at the bottom.
(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:14, Reply)
Spring Gardens sounds about right!
What's your chippy anyway? Mine was Waters Green until the tragedy

*cries*
(, Tue 28 Jul 2009, 17:33, Reply)
Just depends
Although I'm almost always disapointed.

1) Large/Double Fish & Chips
2) King Rib Supper
3) Red Pudding Supper

I don't tend to get much else, although either a Jar of Cockles/Mussels or sometimes a pickled egg can be real nice. A glass bottle of Irn Bru as well!

Which is the far north of the highlands and I must state that your opinion offends me. Pickled Mussels are all winly and nice.

Cod und chips.
With lots and lots of salt and vinegar. Nom. Or in our old chippy in Canterbury, chicken nuggets. They were like little balls of deep-fried heaven.
