I used stay atYHA London Central, just off Gt Portland St. It's pretty good and usually less than 20 quid.
Now Captain V makes me stay in hotels with sculptures of naked women on the walls. They cost more though.

Hmmm...The men's dorms there are invariably full of snoring people, sweaty people, and Japanese people who think that 3:30am is a good time to start preparing a packed lunch.
