Goddammit
I've got a song stuck in my head.
I don't know who it's by, or any of the words, and can only remember about 6 notes of the tune.

But it's driving me crazy. Is there anywhere on teh web that can get half a dozen notes out of your head and tell you what song it is? Like the opposite of Name That Tune?

Tunatic?
You hold a mic up to a speaker playing a song and it compares it to its database. Perhaps it would work with you humming into the microphone?

How does it go?
I'm pretty good with music, hum it and I'll see if I can help.
Seriously though, I vaaaaaguely remember hearing about an Iphone app that can tell you what a song is if you play it a few bars. It was supposedly so good it would sometimes work if you hummed it.
Thinking about it now, that seems too good to be true, so maybe I dreamed it. Sorry.

Send me the notes,
- in the right order please - and I'll see what I come up with.

Just listen to this:

Guaranteed to fester in your head and block out any other music, internal or otherwise, for hours afterward.

OK...
Tunatic is great but doesn't work with humming :( It led me to another app which reportedly does work with humming, but it didn't.

I'm now trying to find a simple application to play the tune on which will tell me what the notes are that I can remember... I've become entangled in a convoluted series of downloads. I have some nice new desktop toys to play with now.

So: it's a slow souly bluesy ballady type love song, sung by a fella with a deep and velvety voice. Reminds me a bit of Willow by Joan Armatrading (awesome song btw). I think it's in 3 time, maybe 2, but I'm certain it's not 4. The bit I can remember is the last few words of the verse, and it's something like EF F EE C.

okie
what are the words please?

Just looked up Willow by Joan Armatrading and I agree by the way!

Did I mention
I can't remember any of the words? :(
Something slushy, about love. I think he says "my" something... "And my world is something" or "forever" might be the last word. Something like that.

It wouldn't be bugging me so much if I had some words to sing. Like the other day I had Magical Trevor stuck in my head but I couldn't sing it coz I couldn't remember it. It bugged me so much the next day I had to play it for half an hour before I went to work so I could sing my internal jukebox just to externalize it and stop me going insane.

mmm
I hate having songs stuck in my head that I don't know.

Google likes ten2five and the Bee Gees with those words.

It's
definitely not either of those.

I still haven't got it
Any guesses?

Have you considered gazzing Rob and getting him to newsletter this?
This has gone on for days now, and every day I come back in the hope of finding a resolution.
I think a Q&A at the end of the newsletter would be cool anyway.
EDIT: OK, so it's not even been 24 hours, but it feels like days. I obviously have no life outside of "teh interwebz", as I believe the cool kids call it. I'm guessing you're slowly going insane, either way.

you could try
www.bored.com/songtapper/

Tap out the melody on the space bar and it'll try and match it in their database
