I watched Highlander last night and it was meh.

What cult films do you love? Or hate? Or think are meh?
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 19:37, 49 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
I haven't seen any that seem to qualify for the 'best of' lists
except for Pulp Fiction and I fucking hate pulp fiction
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 19:48, Reply)
I quite liked Pulp Fiction
- the other film everyone loves that I hate is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Crap crap and crap.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 19:52, Reply)
I saw that one, it was alright
I think some that are usually considered are The Lost Boys, The Crow, and Fight Club.
I happen to like these.
But I don't think everyone considers them to be cult.
I'd really like to see Nosferatu.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:13, Reply)
My first boyfriend was obsessed with Nosferatu
and vampires in general. It was not good.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:16, Reply)
your boyfriend or the movie?
I'm into vampires but not obsessed.
No, I swear I wasn't going to get a vampire bite tattoo, honest.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:17, Reply)
Neither! But that was just me; I was sick of hearing about vampires by the time I got shot of him.
Thank fuck Twilight hadn't been invented yet...
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:20, Reply)
One of the things I don't get
is why some people can be so obsessed by vampires.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:21, Reply)
the aspect of eternal life, beauty, sex and power
all wrapped up in a feisty little package
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:23, Reply)
That would explain some of my Uni mates.

(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:31, Reply)
Oh god you just described my first boyfriend's mental picture of himself.
I would link his livejournal for the lulz, it's horrendous.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:33, Reply)
Twilight is pretty extreme.
I'm glad the series wasn't out when I was a teenager.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:21, Reply)
Fucking hate hate hate Twilight.
It makes me rage on so many levels. Got in the lift at work today with a girl who had a copy of it with her and had to be restrained from setting fire to it. I could shit out a better book. SPARKLY VAMPIRES WHAT THE FUCK.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:27, Reply)
hahahaha
Twilight is the reason I stopped writing my novel.
Fuck a bunch of Twilight.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:29, Reply)
Twilight is the reason I want to write.
So I can knock that shit out of the charts. Also, because if I don't write it'll make me explode!

*strokes her And Then Buffy Staked Edward shirt*
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:32, Reply)
Yeah, I've moved on to different subjects now.
I mean, I honestly like twilight but it's just too fucking extreme for me, I'll never read the books ever again.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:36, Reply)
Mine is struggling a bit; got to a point and can't go any further with it.

(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:43, Reply)
ARGH me as well!
I'm having difficulty because I can't get anyone to read it, short of paying an editor probably, so in the back of my mind I think "what's the point? no ones going to like it any fucking way"
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:44, Reply)
Mine is "well no bugger's going to read it aside from me and maybe Pot",
I'm too shy to look for any other advice for it...
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:57, Reply)
Evening
I saw Highlander many years ago and also thought it was meh. Also saw the sequel at the same video-night which was more memorable. Not seen the other 3 films.

I recently got to watch Ghostbusters which I love.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 19:50, Reply)
I've not seen Ghostbusters for a very very long time.
the animated series used to give me Teh Fear...
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 19:53, Reply)
Earlier this year, I saw it for the first time in ages.
This time round, the ghost in the library didn't scare my pants off.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 19:55, Reply)
I might have to watch it again, then.
I don't think I'll ever stop being scared of The Witches though...
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:04, Reply)
Debbie does Dallas.
Very poor. I didn't see any of Dallas's major attractions.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 19:50, Reply)
I know, how shit is that?
Inside Deep Throat was no better. We didn't learn anything about conspiracy theories.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 19:53, Reply)
Nor did we learn about the upper part of the oesophagus.

(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 19:54, Reply)
No. All there was was some random bint
giving lots of blow jobs. At least 9 Songs actually had 9 songs in it...
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:03, Reply)
If it's any consolation
most of the people who visit Dallas never get to meet Debbie.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 19:53, Reply)
*cancels trip to Texas*

(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:03, Reply)
* spreads the word *
* watches as the Dallas tourist-board looks on in horror *
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:14, Reply)
No one wants to go there anyway ;)
detracts from the awesomeness that is Paris.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:17, Reply)

You've been listening to JFK's ghost then?
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:19, Reply)
He popped out of the giant stapler on my desk this very day.
And told me not to eat too much horse steak.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:33, Reply)
Horse steak does have that effect on you

(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:35, Reply)
Something to avoid in Paris, then! :)

(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:43, Reply)
But you can still see the giant staplers instead.

(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:47, Reply)
In their natural habitat?
This one goes CLUNK in a very satisfying way!
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:56, Reply)
When they're not hiding, they're a spectacular sight to behold.
But watch out for the stray giant staples.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 21:01, Reply)
Eek! Spiky!

(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 21:05, Reply)
A sadly misunderstood beast
Kept in offices in horrific inhumane conditions.

What could be more majestic than the sight of a majestic herd of giant staplers majestically making their way across the majestic Serengheti in the majestic sunset?
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 21:07, Reply)
But they have to compete for food with the hole-punchers

(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 21:10, Reply)
*clunkity clunkity clunk*
How glorious they are.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 21:11, Reply)
Dallas is ace
As I explained the other night.

Never seen Debbie there though, although she may have aged a bit and I might not have recognised her.

Evening, HSH people.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:35, Reply)
Evening TD
Perhaps the Dallas tourist-board should distribute pictures of how she would look now.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:37, Reply)
Good idea
Like a sort of I-Spy Porn Stars book - if you're old enough to remember I-Spy books.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:40, Reply)
This could also double as a MILF-themed porn-mag.

(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 20:49, Reply)
I'm sure porn stars don't go about naked all the time
They'd be harder to spot in mufti.

Maybe. I've never met a porn star and frankly I can't be bothered with porn any more.

If I want a pint of Guinness I'm not going to look at a picture of one.
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 21:02, Reply)
My sentiments entirely.
Why watch when you can do?
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 21:05, Reply)
Perhaps that's what recovering alcoholics do.
Alcoporn
(, Wed 26 Aug 2009, 21:09, Reply)
Best film ever: Performance
Love. It.

also El Topo - must be seen to be believed.
