Woo fucking yay!
I've spent the last hour attaching the new strings to my guitar, pricking myself with the ends of the strings and nearly having my eye out a few times, but it is done. Now to tune the bastard, which is where I came unstuck last time... o.O

Greetings Maladelica
Did you get one of those self-assembly guitars from IKEA by any chance?
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:22, Reply)
Nope - fifteen quid from the local boot fair.
I dread to think what a flat-pack guitar would take to put together; probably the instructions would all be in Swedish.

*doesn't like flat-pack furniture*
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:29, Reply)
It would have an amusing name
And you'd be able to play all your favourite Electric Boys songs.

Most of the furniture in my flat is flat pack, but I don't own any musical instruments (unless my laptop and iPhone count)
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:34, Reply)
Doesn't the iPhone come with an app
to make music. An ocarina?
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:37, Reply)
Not as standard
but I'm sure there's plenty in the app store.

I recently got an app for my iPhone to make it imitate an electric shaver.
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:39, Reply)
How does it imitate a shaver?
By vibrating? If so, I think you were mis-sold it.
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:42, Reply)
IT has a picture of the shaver on the screen
and makes shaver noises that change depending on it's orientation and the speed/acceleration it's moved with. If you want to give people looking from afar the impression that your iPhone is a shaver, this is the app to use.
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:44, Reply)
So it's a shaver
from very, very far away? Awesome.

*wants*
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:49, Reply)
It specialises on invisible hairs
and lets people who nag you for not shaving STFU until they get closer.
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:51, Reply)
Shaving ain't all that.
There is much to be said for stubble.
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:04, Reply)
fucking this

(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:04, Reply)
FUCK YEAH STUBBLE

    Krįstiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinę!

You could even manage to still smell nice after your pasta, spinach and fetta.
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:28, Reply)
I won't have it, no money :(

(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:33, Reply)
Nay worries
Even pasta, spinach and fetta smells nice.
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:38, Reply)
yeah but I don't have it
so I can't smell it either way
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:44, Reply)
But even so, you still smell like you've not been in a hot garage all day
In other news, I now have to head off to my Tai-Chi class.

Think you just missed him.
I'm still here, trying to tune...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 19:57, Reply)
sorry Mal, didn't see you there...
you okay?
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:08, Reply)
So-so.
Rushed off my feet at work - every single train was delayed yesterday - and getting to grips with my guitar.

Yourself? :)
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:10, Reply)
not so bad petal, not so bad.
couldn't really be bothered with dinner tonight, just a snack. i am now dining on cider.
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:22, Reply)
Am thinking along similar lines
despite having a well-stocked freezer. May nick some of Flatmate's chips.
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:35, Reply)
stolen chips!
FTW

i think i fancy a fried egg...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:41, Reply)
Eh, you can have the egg. Don't like them.
I'm currently wondering if I am, in fact, tone deaf, since I cannot for the life of me tune the guitar...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:47, Reply)
i'm saying nowt!
did you get yourself an electronic tuner or a tuning fork?
it's easy once you get your bottom string tuned, then you can do the others off intervals...

i haven't picked up a guitar in about 4 years...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:51, Reply)
I'm using one I found on the internets
but may have to borrow one off one of the guys at work... and am starting from the top E so that may explain the problems :(

I can get them in the right order of pitch, but I can't seem to make them sound like the schematic in front of me...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:56, Reply)
start with the bottom string and work upwards...
that way you can tune the 2nd string off the first.
simples...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 21:23, Reply)
I shall do this.
And I love it when people say "simples".
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 21:25, Reply)
i love it when people say i love it about things i say!
i picked up the guitar in a truley offensively short period of time. basically i learned, in 2 hours, what it took my ex-wife 6 months to learn. and she was the one teaching me. and she was the one in a band.
which she didn't like...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 21:29, Reply)
The truth is that I have little to no musical talent
hence the struggling to tune the guitar. I sing a perfect third out of tune. I think I've got the D as good as it can get, though the bottom E is giving me grief!
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 21:34, Reply)
have you no-one there helping you?
one-to-one lessons are the way forward.
if you can find somenoe who'll trade lessons for food...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 21:36, Reply)
Nope - my flatmate's at work and I'm using the internets for assistance.
I may well go into work tomorrow and throw myself on my supervisor's mercy, since he's an expert. I may also have to promise never to rickroll him again...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 21:38, Reply)
if that's the price you need to pay!
LOL

right, that's me out of here i'm afraid!

catch you later dude!
x
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 21:40, Reply)
My supervisors and I enjoy rickrolling one another
so if promising to only rickroll Supervisor 2 and not Supervisor 1 is what it takes to not make a twat of myself, it's a small price to pay!

I have, however, learned to make a lovely Spanishy mishmashy sound :D

Catch you later x
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 21:44, Reply)
quite fucking shit actually, how is everyone else?

(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:04, Reply)
i just had a huge confusion thing there...
for a moment i wasn't sure who was who...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:08, Reply)
I tend to ruin things
soz
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:11, Reply)
it wasn't you, m'dear!
it was simply my brain kinda monging out a bit...

happens quite frequently to be honest.
age?
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:20, Reply)
you're asking my age?

(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:27, Reply)
you're saying your brain is monging because of your age?

(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:30, Reply)
i'm saying my brain is monging cos of age.
couldn't possibly comment on yours...
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:33, Reply)
I'm american, what other excuse is there?

(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:35, Reply)
is it really down to geography?
LOL

so anyway, what's up with you today?
(, Tue 29 Sep 2009, 20:52, Reply)
