But the fucking advert breaks that came 7 minutes apart were a pain in the arse.

Oh hell yes.
There's something very wrong when a UK channel puts so many adverts in that they inflate the runtime of a US show...

I think it was on a subscription channel in the US,
so there weren't many ads

IMDB has the runtime at 60mins per episode,
so a quarter of the timeslot it was given last night consisted of adverts.

just be glad you don't live in Spain
here, the general practice is - start a program, wait two minutes, then adverts (which run anything up to 8 minutes, though they do say how long they will be). the same at the end - two minutes left, 5 minutes of adverts, then return for the final 2 minutes (which includes credits).

Makes me long for the bbc

When I saw it started at 10 and finished at 11:20 I thought it must have been some extra long pilot episode or something. But no.
