Once again I miss the interesting times
and am left reading several thousand posts to try and figure out what's going on....

You just wait till I get a laptop and can post more in the evenings.

My Mrs has the flu. I'm hoping my bout of illness earlier this week was my immune system kicking its ass.

How are you?

I'm awesome
but then you knew that already. Finally getting a few hours to myself this evening so I might just go to the pub after work.

I'm awesome too.
Probably even more awesome than Noel.

Utterly shit
I'm so broke I've had to email my boss telling him if he doesn't give me a 5K raise I'm going to have to sell my house and will therefore resign.

Got a call re an unpaid (maxed out) credit card bill this morning.

The final straw...

How much are you earning at the moment?
feel free to tell me to fuck off if that insults you.
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 9:54, Reply)
Fuck off
(30K)
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 9:56, Reply)
but when you're
'in the london' it doesn't go very far, i expect
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 10:05, Reply)
doesn't go far in exeter either

(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 10:05, Reply)
Doesn't go that far up North either.

(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 10:06, Reply)
well,
my 15k doesn't go very far, any fucking where. i would be better off with a paper round. i hate my job with every molecule of my being.

Shall we form a club?
Trying to pay for a kid and living on my own it's fucking impossible.

I've not had a raise in 5yrs (when the economy was blissfully ignorant and 'booming') so I am well over-fucking-due.

But if I can't live in the East End in a 1-bed flat and support one child with my salary then fuck it. Maybe I'll sell up, pay all my debts off and fuck off to America to live at my father's. He has a holiday home on a beautiful nature reserve in Virginia and he's seldom there.

Might be a place to get myself together and get healthy for a change.
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 10:34, Reply)
You can't.
You have a daughter that needs a father and running away never fixes anything.

Trust me, I know.

It's looking increasingly likely
that her mother will move her to Canterbury soon anyway, at which point my weekly court appointed visits will cost too much to make regularly.

I'm really, really distressed to be honest.

Sorry to hear that Monty : (

(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 10:48, Reply)
people ask me about having children
and aside from not wanting them, there's no fucking way I could afford it any time soon. not with the size of my mortgage.

my canadian friend has been trying to convince her other half to move over there. for the price of a two bed flat in exeter you can get a massive 4 bed detached house in canada with a generous amount of land.
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 10:39, Reply)
for £35 I can get dual Candian/UK citizenship
as my old boy lived there from aged 3 to 27 and is a citizen.

The only trouble i would have
would be deciding which colour to pop out first, the heterochromiac shitfunnel
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 11:09, Reply)
I have only heard
good things about Canada. had a few pals move over there last year, they were tearful and unsure, a fortnight later they decided they would NEVER come back, so it must have something going for it. Proper seasons for a start, as opposed to the Spring then Autumn shite that Scotland gets.

As for running away, well, sometimes you need a bit of distance between you and your problems to truly see them and therefore decide how to deal with them. Not having a raise for 5 years is a pretty good reason to ask for one though....why stop at 5k ;-)
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 10:47, Reply)
My father's father
made a living painting landscapes over there in his retirement from killing Germans - we have some beautiful oils showing the amazing autumnal colours they get out there. Simply stunning.

Not bad thanks,
I'm looking after a dog and two cats.
They're pretty cool.

Get a steak and some catnip
and we'll take bets on who wins.
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 9:54, Reply)
my money is on the steak

(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 9:58, Reply)
I'd rather just eat that myself.

(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 9:59, Reply)
in that case, I'm going to back you

(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 10:01, Reply)
I've been ill for 3 weeks
I can't shake off a cold. It's rubbish. The only consolation is that when I get better again, I'm expecting to feel absolutely amazing.

Been sitting in a meeting room for 45 minutes
Waiting for a 6 hour meeting to start...
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 10:47, Reply)
6 hours?
What the hell do they plan to talk about for 6 hours?
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 10:51, Reply)
The stuff I work on is being transferred to another organisation
So it's all the fiddly details like software licences and database backups and who is responsible for what. *sigh*
(, Thu 22 Oct 2009, 11:45, Reply)
I'm sure 6 hour meetings are illegal or something.
There'd better be bloody good tea and biscuits.
