Oi, you lot
Name some songs I could look up the tabs for and learn to play, I'm bored and you're all well ugly
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:09, 56 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead
One of my faves to play. Really easy but effective.

Serious suggestions only please
No bands for girls, only MAN music for MEN

Faith

Ohmygod
you're like psychic and everything. That's my Mum's favourite song, so I tried to learn it because she doesn't think I can play, because she doesn't know any of the songs I'm playing.

But doggamit, that's a pretty hard song to play.

EDIT it goes something like:

5-x-5-x-5-x-5-x-5-x-
7-x-7-x-7-x-7-x-7-x-
7-x-7-x-7-x-7-x-7-x-
8-x-8-x-8-x-8-x-8-x-
7-x-7-x-7-x-7-x-7-x-
5-x-5-x-5-x-5-x-5-x-

Hmm doesn't sound too difficult..
Chord changes are quite fast maybe. Minumum widdle involved though.

Only suggested it for the gayness of the lyrics combined with strumming. Think GM resonates with a lot of women of a certain age, who probably can't believe that he ever came out.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:24, Reply)
You just described Mum
You haven't had her as well, have you?

It's the muting the strings between each strum that makes it difficult
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:25, Reply)
G Major does that to me too.

(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:26, Reply)
Ha!

(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:28, Reply)
urgh that's a horrible chord
there's got to be an easier way than playing that.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:25, Reply)
That's what I was thinking

with palm muting? EDIT assuming low E is at the top of the tab. Is that right? Confused now. Haven't read tab or practised much in too long

Don't have a tuned guitar to hand to test it out but it's the same notes only a bit simpler.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:47, Reply)
I'll give it a try
but if it doesn't sound right, I'm coming for your kids
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:50, Reply)

I like this suggestion

Don't Know Why by Norah Jones.
That'll fucking keep you busy for a few hours.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:24, Reply)
Even though I asked for MAN music
I like this suggestion, my ex gave me a copy of Norah Jones's debut album years ago, so the songs have a certain resonance to me.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:27, Reply)
The picking and fingering are nicely tricky
I was chuffed to bits when I finally got it.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:28, Reply)
It looks like there may be some travis picking involved
I like that folk-y style, it feels proper guitar-y.

Look at me using technical lingo!

Nightwish
Wishmaster
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:29, Reply)

Camouflage
by Stan Ridgway.

This is ALWAYS the answer.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:42, Reply)
I'm going to learn that, just for you
and then when you post that picture I asked for I'm going to come round to your house to serenade you
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:45, Reply)
I'm working on it.
I have a bit of persuading to do. I'm in a weakened position because I vetoed walking down the aisle to Ghostbusters.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:46, Reply)
Work on it MOAR
All you'll have to do is give him head a couple of times, what's the big deal?

I can't believe you vetoed Ghostbusters, you could have done that little walking dance they do at the end too. Are you insane?
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:49, Reply)
Yeah, I like the walking dance.
And my friend wanted to make us bubble packs for our backs that spray bubbles from a gun.

It's still a no.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 16:04, Reply)
You're not going to have a typical, boring, girly wedding though, are you?

(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 16:07, Reply)
No.
I've already got my shoes. They're electric blue shiny faux-snakeskin from Peacocks, only cost a tenner, and I'm decorating them with glittery clip-on earrings and ribbon.

Stylish.

The groom intends to wear a skirt so yeah, a bit girly.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 16:10, Reply)
That sounds far too normal
I always imagined if you got married, you'd skysurf into the ceremony on a board shaped like a giant cock
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 16:12, Reply)
^This.
See, we should so hire you as the wedding planner.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 16:15, Reply)
I'll do it
as long as I don't have to snog Matthew McConaughy

FUCK YOU, MATTHEW

Your arse isn't big enough, Monkey from the Block.

(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 16:23, Reply)
Neither's hers
It's all just a big media-induced myth; she actually had a glutectomy years ago, and nobody even noticed

or has b3ta just gone a bit weird?
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:51, Reply)
weird in what way?

(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:52, Reply)
The font's changed
and all of the buttons have moved slightly left
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:53, Reply)
Nope
Must be just you.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:53, Reply)
It's fixed now
my laptop must be playing up. I'll give it a slap to see if it makes that sound Ziggy from Quantum leap makes.

*slap*
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 16:08, Reply)
Nah, it didn't

Greensleeves
Every guitarist should play Greensleeves.
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:53, Reply)
I think I already have that somewhere

(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 15:54, Reply)
Oh well
by Fleetwood Mac.

Might be a bit tricky, but it's a great tune to play.

or the music from the snooker, Drag Racer by Doug Wood Band
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 19:18, Reply)
I think 'Death of a Clown' by The Kinks
is particularly good on acoustic. Especially for the chorus if you alternate the strumming on the root note kind of thing. Ahem.

Oh and the obligatory Sunny Afternoon / Waterloo Sunset....
(, Sat 24 Oct 2009, 19:38, Reply)
Acoustic Greatness
Days of the New - Touch, Peel and Stand. Very nice. (just came up on shuffle)
