Yesterday at work
A manager for another site, here for a meeting, wanted to check her email at lunchtime. She powered off and on a locked PC and logged in, in the process killing the long running test it had been performing. On being asked about it she just shrugged, said "sorry" and swanned off back to her meeting.

I'd never do that, nor would anyone else I know. I had assumed that was a universal piece of modern etiquette - apparently not.

Any other bits of 21st century manners you can think of? Alternatively, have you seen some rudeness recently?

Yeah but what if someone had poked her?

Saying maybe to a facebook invite

So you can see if sometuing better comes along or saying no and not saying why.

I do both of these on a regular basis.

I got a friend request from some random bloke
who just wanted the extra "friend" that confers an advantage in one of the games we both happen to be playing. That's just mental - do I want a complete stranger reading my statuses?

Are you suggesting
It was actually a gayer making a move? ONLINE?

PIXELS ON A SCREEN
are serious, don't forget that.

Why do you have to give a reason not to go somewhere?
I don't think that's rude.

An acquaintance recently poured out her heart about her sudden split with the boyfriend
which had been precipitated by her reading his phone texts.

She mentioned that she didn't normally read his texts, but...

How rude.

Did you laugh?
And point out it was probably her own fault for being nosy?

Actually, laughing would be really harsh - I hope you hugged her in a sympathetic manner

Not so much etiquette as general computer spazzery on her behalf possibly.

some utter social cripple
works in our office.

They filled up the sugar bowl from the sugar tub, then instead of putting the empty tub in the bin they put it back in the cupboard.

An, Empty. Fucking. Tub. Of. Sugar. The same person probably didn't throw away the empty bag of teabags when they used the last one, didn't order any more and just expected the magical kitchen stock replenishment fairy to bring some more.

Some cunt also put a botlle of milk back in the fridge that had about 0.1mm of milk in it.

grrrrrr
