Alex Turner came out on stage
And before the Arctics started playing he went "sorry about that, we should the ones supporting them really, shouldn't we", expecting the crowd to boo and disagree with him in a light-hearted fashion.

No one replied. Everyone just stood there, shrugged their shoulders and went "well yeah, you should be actually". Was quite funny at the time. No one had heard any of their material before, coupled with the fact it was a total surprise. The crowd including me were blown away.

I'm more than a little jealous
have you heard the guy from Arctic Monkeys' other band? Last Shadow Puppets

much better than AM in my opinion
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:46, Reply)
I think that's because they have a smattering of scouse in there
Take heed.

haha

Yeah
They're not bad, although my dislike for Scousers hinders my view slightly. Good album though.

I couldn't get into the AM's new album, hated it in fact. After seeing them at Brixton (also saw them at Newcastle Arena in November but it was awful, like going to a gig in a shopping centre) I fell in love with it. It's easily their best and has taken them in a fantastic direction. It's also diminished the tribal element of their fanbase, the ones that throw beer around and sing football chants between songs before shouting the words to Mardy Bum completely out of tune. I love that they've fucked off.

However I'm steering clear of them or any other low key music because I'll just start crying. I'm an emotional wreck at the moment. Crooked Vultures album is being given a spin at the moment and I'm lurving it. A lot.

SMITE HIM!!!!

(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:05, Reply)
I'll let you off
I have my reasons though.

The bloke above me at uni is a Scouser, and he's the biggest cunt in the world thanks to his taste in music.

He's a six foot three stereotypical lanky power nerd, nothing wrong with that, but when he starts playing Puff Daddy's "Bad Boys for Life", Lemar's "If there's any justice in the world", Papa Roach's "Last Resort" and everyone's favourite Limp Bizkit track "Keep Rolling" at ridiculous times of day a switch goes in my head and I curse all things Merseyside related. He's had Keep Rolling on at deafening volumes at seven on a Sunday morning before.

That along with me and a friend being chased by a load of Everton fans is the sum total of my experience of Scousers. So as much as I try not to generalise I'm not Liverpool's biggest fan.

I'm sure you're just lovely, though.

A black man shoved me into a wall once...
Now stop, let the love wash over you.
I am fucking lovely jubbly and I'm scouse, so there.
I made a red-haired chef smile mid-rant once, so don't doubt my skillz ;)
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:17, Reply)
I'll try
I've just realised I have met a nice Scouser before so I'll take your word for it. Your internet self seems friendly enough so I'm sure the real you is too.

Now my Zen better hurry up and charge, I can't sit indoors much longer or I'll top myself. I'm going to hit myself with a frying pan if I'm overcome with sadness again this morning. When did I turn into such a soft cunt.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:27, Reply)
It'll pass
I go soft now and again, but then I get a big frost around me with icicles on and nothing shall penetrate. I'm in the turning to frost stage right now. I'm relieved that I still have the ability, so I bet you do too kid.
Grrr.

Zen Mosaic?
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:30, Reply)
Zen X-Fi
It's amazing, and the size of a credit card. Plus Noel Edmonds is my background which cheers me up endlessly, he's a national icon you know.

I'm very much stuck in a rut at the moment, I love Newcastle more than life itself, but at the moment there's nothing I want to do less than go back up to uni. I just want to stay indoors and do bugger all. I'd laugh if I wasn't such a saddo!
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:38, Reply)
Are you at parents' house?
Because one can regress slightly after prolonged periods' with the folks.
Go back up to uni and get TOTALLY involved in something.
I am givin you advice I never took...
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:45, Reply)
I am indeed
It hasn't helped that my best mate got booted out from said uni last month. I need to get back up there and back amongst it all, I love university but I really cannot be arsed at present. To do anything.

I've made the decision just now that I'm going round the missus' tomorrow or Sunday to tell her how I feel. I'm a stubborn cunt but I'm not going to let petty shite ruin things. I think she's perfect and could quite happily spend the rest of my life with her. I won't let things slip away so soon after getting to where I want to be.

I feel better for writing that.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:52, Reply)
Woah, award for bravery.
Tell her exactly like that, like you described there ^.
She'll eithersay that the petty things DO matter (in which case you'll know one way or another) or she'll be really chuffed and impressed and she'll totally agree with you.
It saves all the pining and wondering and worrying!
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:56, Reply)
That's what's killing me
I don't know how much longer I can sit around and think about it. I need to get out but I'm absolutely potless, the warehouse party in Bethnel Green last week really has done a number on my finances.

And I've already started to shit myself at the thought of going round. Christ what have I agreed to do. Not backing out this time though.

Thanks for the kind words.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 11:04, Reply)
No worries
Hope it works out, however you decide to tackle it.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 11:07, Reply)
I have to admit
I used to dislike the scouse accent, but I realised that was because I'd never met anyone I liked who had one. Met a girl from one of our other offices who was a scouser and she was a good laugh. made me re-assess.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:05, Reply)
There are dozens of variations of our accent.
I'm hoping mine is one of the pleasant ones. You'd have to ask the B3tans who've met me. It gets stronger with booze.
I bet Becky says I sound like cats on a blackboard.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:06, Reply)
she would though
because she's nasty :-)
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:07, Reply)
She did well
She only shuddered in disgust twice when I mentioned my hometown :P
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:09, Reply)
good effort!
right, I really need to do some work.

if I come back before lunchtime tell me to bugger off
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:12, Reply)
I'm telling you to bugger off already, you fucker
